I think it probably was @Jiffy but I will never know now. The old wooden bird table collapsed during the winter and I've replaced it with a metal bird station which isn't easy to climb. Even the Woodpeckers don't visit so much now, as they used to cling to the post and climb up the old one.

More Wasp Spiders! there seems to be a lot around this summer, these big females die in early winter after leaving a cocoon full of eggs and only live for a year.

Out for a walk this afternoon, I came across two of these baby squirrels (sometimes known as kits). Never seen one up close before. It did look a bit lost and didn't seem to have any fear of me, in fact it moved towards me when I bent down to take this photo.
Wouldn't fancy its chances much if a dog or cat came along.

 

They have very good claws and teeth, I wouldn't like to be bitten by one

 

@Scrungee or any other anglers here, any idea on this fish, not uk but south west France, in a shallow river, about 9ins long.




We had a few fish mains at our hotel as part of a fixed four course meal and Monkfish isn't an unusual fish to have but Zander!! didn't know they were edible and on menus, I must say it was tasty.

Had 2 hedgehogs at the same time at the feeding station last night.
At first there was a big one and the smaller one slowly came in by the side of the other and started eating.
