It is very unusual to see a chipmunk this time of year. That said, we have a baby chipmunk that is still active, so I made friends with it and have been giving it handouts several times a day hoping to build up its store of goodies to get it through the winter. The pointed face indicates that it is very young. We have named it Chester and hope it survives our harsh winter.

Sadly Sheal I have not seen her in over a year, however there is a young fox that appears on the trail cam from time to time.

That's a shame. Hopefully there's nothing wrong and she's just moved to another area. I wonder if the new younger fox will become a regular visitor?

Sheal, as I think about it, I did see Rosie early this spring and she had a kit with here. This young kit may be her offspring, however, it is very wary and will not come near the photo equipment even if I put food out

Perhaps with time the youngster will feel more at ease.

Let's hope so Sheal, last night he passed through like a bolt of lightning. Tonight I have a flash unit deployed by the fence which should stop it if it passes again. It it unpredictable to say the least. STC_0040.JPG

The coloration on this little lady looks a little strange, especially the mask on the face. I sent it to ENCON to see what they think.

She is a white-tailed doe, ENCON just replied, yes the colouring is unusual.

You seem to have some animals around you that have unusual markings or quirks. I wonder if there's an explanation for that. :)

I was thinking the same thing, just lucky I guess. I do spend a great deal of time outdoors with a camera.

For comparison, here is a normal white-tailed deer.
