    Pretty scary Trunky

Horrible week last week. Just three more days before I break up for 11 days, can't wait.

Hope everybody has a peaceful Christmas without any unhappy incidents.

I notice it far more now I've moved: there are no pavements and only room for one car to pass at a time (the other side being parked cars). The road outside my property is far busier than I imagined and the cars do not seem to appreciate that it isn't a motorway! :th scifD36:

There is a very, very clear sign at the turnoff into our road that it is unsuitable for HGV's and yet the odd one or three still try to make it through  Credit where it is due though: those HGV drivers may struggle, but, not a scratch to walls or parked cars as they gingerly manoeuvre their vehicle through a very tight squeeze!! Got to admire their driving skills :love30:

Oh, I think I may have cussed (under my breath/in my head) once or thrice   :heehee:
But, on those occasions (and in my defence) it has been motorway driving, at silly o clock, when a row of them entertain themselves playing HGV leap frog :heehee: (I totally get that it isn't the busiest time for general motorists) and I totally understand they need to entertain themselves to keep their minds active ... but, from an "out of hours" motorists point of view ... it can get a tad ... frustrating! :rolleyespink: :heehee:

Still, my previous comment still stands: under (very) tight conditions - those guys rule! Their driving skills are genuinely admirable to a point of jaw dropping! :thud: Top job

I have the same problem Val,I had a cold at the start of December which has left me with a cough I can't get rid of which is a right pain as it often starts when I am just about to talk to someone and sneezing and coughing is a nightmare:snork:

I have to keep chewing on those Airwaves chewing gum but they blow my head off when I first pop one into my mouth and as you say they make everything taste strange:sad:

@Kandy I think this cough is worse than the cold itself, it keeps me awake at night and also I can't smoke!!!! (well not easily anyway)

@Val....Hall's make different flavoured lozenges which are nice to suck on but they won't help your cough, they're not strong enough. I like the peach ones. :)

What do you think or just me ... being .... well .... if it was me.

To cut a long story short I went to Curry's to pick up electrical item that had been out of stock , while waiting at the cash desk area with other customers by the front entrance to the store for the item to be brought out to me , two of the stores members of staff had finished there shifts.

A senior member of staff with a clip board and a hand held device to pick up anything metal , basically scanned the device over the member of staff , it gave out a large bleep for all to hear and then the member of staff was asked to empty all his pockets and place them on the end of the cash desk and was scanned again and was clear, he was allowed to leave the store, 5 mins later the same happened with a woman member of staff and he also checked through her hand bag as well before she was allowed to leave .

I understand from a Security point of view but I just think this is so wrong as I found it so humiliating to be done in a public place for all to see, I felt uncomfortable with it so I dont know how the staff feel.

I'd refuse to do it and then take them for constructive dismissal. Worked in a bank for 5 years & never had anything like that.

Being the bossy business person that I am :heehee:, I would have immediately told the senior member of staff off (in the correct manner) and said it was not the proper way to treat the staff. If they wish to check what the staff take from the building (they have the right to do so) it should be done by checking them out of the back door.

I would then have immediately contacted their head office and told them that if it was company policy to do it that way then they should think again. Followed by the comment, "I'm sure the media would be interested in the way you humiliate your staff in public".

It wouldn't be the first time I've told off a manager and/or a giant company! Including Currys.

My staff were always treated with the greatest respect and it reflects badly on all businesses when one, or more, are disrespectful or thoughtless!

Sorry! That sort of behaviour really upsets me  and I never let something like that just go by.

I also interfere if I hear a manager, or a salesperson, treating a customer disrespectfully. There is NO excuse for it. :nonofinger:

Reminds me of the time the security guard used to stop me and my wheelbarrow on the way out of the factory. He'd always ask me to move my coat from the barrow, but every time it was just my empty lunchbox under it.

On my last day he stopped me and said, i've been a security guard all my life, I know you've been up to something, I won't report you but i've just got to know what you've been pinching.

                                I replied....
