I agree, but a search clause is probably written in the Curry's employment contract. The trouble is that Unions are weak in the Retail trade and certain large Retail Conglomerates are known to be repressive on staff. The unsaid threat of dismissal also goes a long way to intimidate employees which companies use to a great extent....but would never admit to it.

Customer, employee, etc...........treating anyone disrespectfully when a Manager means you've stopped being a Manager.:dunno:

Most companies do and set aside rooms for security scanning and searches with Witnesses, they should also keep a record of such scans and searches in order to ensure no one person is searched more times than any other person. Unfortunately, the larger Retail Organisations seem to be belatedly aware of the effect of the Recession on the labour market and how people are still being affected by it and are turning more dictatorial. It's a bit like Fashion the wheel goes around from severe bullying management to more acceptable management and then back to bullying, insensitive, methods.:coffee:

Although I had my rant about bad management the businesses do have their problems. Retail establishments are particularly easy for staff to filch goods from. So they do need to be able to try and control it. It's just that they aren't good at dealing with it properly - there's no excuse.

Shoplifting is a major problem and always has been. Even back in the 1950's/60's, places such as Woolworths (remember them!) were losing 2% of turnover to customer and staff thefts. That's an enormous amount.

Apparently the proportion of losses allocated between 'customers!' and staff has moved considerably towards staff. There's a different situation in city centre big stores where professional shoplifters operate, but the stores have sophisticated and expensive systems to cope with it.

In some sectors the, discreet, searching of staff bags is commonplace and should be non-offensive.

We had Female security staff and I insisted that they search me thoroughly every night:whistle:

Good morning I seem to have met every car driver who comes out of their house to go somewhere but instead of just going down the road and turning round, they insist on doing a 15 point turn in the road ,and causing a tail back of at least 10 cars,or heavens above they could park it the right way the night before:whistle:

Thank you I feel better now ;):heehee:

A certain forum has put the idea of de registering your car from the dvla into folks minds, claiming that if your car is registered with them, they are the legal owners.

Energy companies (well, one in particular!)
When we moved here, Mr "M" contacted them to a) change our address and b) to give them the meter reading.
Couple of weeks later, we get a letter saying that they were reducing our DD (by two thirds!) and included a bill. My mistake, I didn't take much notice of it, was just happy that one of our outgoings was being reduced.
Just before Christmas, "Peter" the Meter Man arrived to take readings. So, twix Christmas and New Year, plop comes the bill. Except, it wasn't: it was a letter demanding a meter reading stating they had been unable to gain access to the meter  :dunno: :th scifD36: Well, that wasn't true! Either that or that bloke wasn't really a meter man!? :yikes:
Called to query and the female on the other end of the phone (I'm sure she "intended" to sound assertive) rudely stated: "the reading was below the reading for the previous bill".
:noidea: Okay, but it was your man that read it: maybe he mis-read it? :noidea:
"We have all the readings for that property going back years and the reading isn't correct"
 Erm - can't answer for any of the readings pre-end of August. And your man definitely read it. Tell you what, send someone out and get another reading :)
She did. He came, he went.
Today, I get another letter - revised bill. They had based the September amount on an estimated reading - hence the December reading being below the September estimate.
Not only that - we are a goodly sum (equivalent to one years worth of energy use) in CREDIT! And no suggestion of any refund
Suffice to say, a 15 minute call later and 4/5ths of that credit (my suggestion) will be returned to our bank within 3-5 working days. Had I not called ... my money would be sat totting up interest (along with all those other customers in credit) to the pure joy and delight of the shareholders.
From now on, I'm going to be keeping a much closer eye on our meter/s.

Yep! Both the electricity and gas suppliers don't refund your hard earned cash unless you ask for it "M". Crafty so-and-so's!

Well, I must admit when I swapped from SWALEC to another company because the "tariff" was cheaper I changed companies on line. But to make sure there were as little mistakes as possible I rang both companies a week later to ensure that all was going well. SWALEC were very good and, before I could ask,:hapydancsmil::dunno::coffee: told me that my credit with them from a dual energy account was scheduled to be transferred to my Bank Account at the end of the month........and it was.
