Unfortunately my purse has never had enough money to look inflated and the strings have fallen off anyway.

I'm not sure about that, FC, it might possibly be negative to be positive about that but I'm not positive about that as it might seem negative.:dunno:

I am not denying that negativity has a purpose. War has a purpose!

I think you have totally missed my point. I am not denying that negativity has its place just that there is FAR too much negativity!!! The balance is heavily weighed down (literally and otherwise) with the predominance of negativity. We live in a society where the norm is to moan....not to praise.

                      The best of British:whistle:

Isn’t this weather terrible? We lost a slate off the roof, in that wind last night and now the drains are blocked now, with all the leaves. Oh, I hate Autumn, don’t you? And then there’s Christmas - only six weeks away but the cards have been in the shops since August Bank Holiday and you have to queue for everything….!

So when does the moan swingometer tip from the occasional grizzle to the “she never stops moaning” danger area? A good test is that, unless you’re talking to a doctor, the answer to “How are you?” should always be “Fine.” Anyone close to you knows exactly how you are - and the rest of us aren’t remotely interested.

Evenings with friends that were once punctuated by the pop of corks and the jangle of costume jewellery, are now defined by the rattle of a handbag full of vitamins and supplements and the cry of “Still or sparkling?”. “Has yours gone any higher?” is no longer a discussion about soufflés or overdrafts. It’s about blood pressure. “Do you grunt when you sit down?”, we ask each other. “No, but I have to push my hands down on my knees to get up from a crouching position.” “You can CROUCH..?!”

But our biggest moan is about the state of our teeth - or rather, gums. "My gums used to be straight. Now they’re more like the Alps. Do you think Joanna Lumley has got false gums?"

Perfect. End a good moan with a good laugh.

But, hold on... there’s nothing funny about what’s going on in the world today, is there? My savings have plummeted, since the interest rate cut. And you try to get a plumber out on a Saturday night….:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Not in the slightest. I do get your point, but, I will also add ... you are most likely preaching to the (already) converted - hence the resulting banter ;)
Yes, there may *appear* to be a weighting on negativity ... but then I do wonder where you frequent? Because I deliberately choose to go to places where "negativity" plays a minor (and on *this* forum an exceedingly minor) role in focus.
I do have an appreciation for the thread you began with what are we grateful for/in praise of/positivity but by that same token, people do like to be afforded a moment/place where they may express their frustrations at the world.
I would hate to think we live in a world where we cease to value, respect and have compassion for, those times where life may confuse, thwart, frustrate, irritate and maybe even result in angering us.
There are just far too many "rules & regulations" which control our behaviour and responses: we are expected to be saints in waiting - but that is wholly unrealistic: we are human, with human frailties.

In the kindest possible way and with the kindest of intentions - you *do* have a choice whether you read this thread or not. You do not have to subject yourself to any perceived "negativity". You have that freedom of choice :)

Thank you GC for permitting us (the members) the right to choose and not taking that choice away from us. Another tick in the box for GC (in my opinion).

Just remember: ultimately, GC will not permit a members free choice to moan to mean they can inflict a personal attack, outright offense or any other breach of forum rules upon another member. So, if members have a moan of the day, just so long as it doesn't breach those forum rules, it cannot harm anyone, but may just salve someone's blood pressure (which is a good thing, right? :dunno: )

We are not obliged to read *every* thread/post :grphg:

                        Long live that freedom!
