My mobile phone cost me £2.95 to buy and I've almost spent £1 on calls in the last couple of years. I think someone mentioned something about having to turn it on first.

No laptop, no iPad, no tablet, no smart phone - no friends!!! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

The service for my desktop costs £10 per month with unlimited downloads (I think they already knew that I don't download any films etc. :snork: and our download speed is quite slow).

I've been with them since internet started and this year's standard price is £18 per month but after I'd started talking the hind leg off the donkey they dropped it to £10 just to get me off the phone (my landline calls are free :blue thumb:).

We have two landlines (used to have three!!! - but the third was free), both quite busy, which each costs £14 per month with unlimited free calls. As we're retired we don't need them when out and about and I don't want to be contacted when I'm not at home. I know, an old fashioned attitude :old:.

With busy phones and approx. 100-150 emails per day we are happy not to be in touch when we're out and about or just in the garden. I don't think we've missed anything important. :)

When we're on holiday we let people know the number where we're staying and that's it.

We're still living in, almost, prehistoric times. :rasp:

Am I Addicted to my Smartphone?
        1. Do you find yourself spending more time on your smartphone than you realize?
        2. Do you find yourself mindlessly passing time on a regular basis by staring at your smartphone even though there might be better or more productive things to do?
        3. Do you seem to lose track of time when on your cell phone?
        4. Do you find yourself spending more time texting, tweeting, or emailing as opposed to talking to real-time people?
        5. Has the amount of time you spend on your cell phone been increasing?
        6. Do you secretly wish you could be a little less wired or connected to your cell phone?
        7. Do you sleep with your smartphone on or under your pillow or next to your bed regularly?
        8. Do you find yourself viewing and answering texts, tweets, and emails at all hours of the day and night, even when it means interrupting other things you are doing?
        9. Do you text, email, tweet, or surf the internet while driving or doing other similar activities that require your focused attention and concentration?
        10. Do you feel your use of your cell phone actually decreases your productivity at times?
        11. Do you feel reluctant to be without your smartphone, even for a short time?
        12. When you leave the house, you ALWAYS have your smartphone with you and you feel ill-at-ease or uncomfortable when you accidentally leave your smartphone in the car or at home, or you have no service, or it is broken?
        13. When you eat meals, is your cell phone always part of the table place setting?
        14. When your phone rings, beeps, buzzes, do you feel an intense urge to check for texts, tweets, or emails, updates, etc.?
        15. Do you find yourself mindlessly checking your phone many times a day even when you know there is likely nothing new or important to see?

got eye strain reading this post :roflol:

I have a flintstone flip phone that I bought outright for $150. CDN and pay $100. per year for text/talk. If I go over my data usage, I renew my $100. earlier than the anniversary. Only had this happen once.:)

Seems to me most here, like me, are connected to the internet via personal computers so a mobile isn't needed to play here. I use my landline for most verbal communication and keep my flip phone with me on journeys in case of emergency. I do use it once in awhile to text grandkids but they know that my landline is the #1 way to reach Grambo.:rolleyespink:

I do wish restaurants had a jamming device that would interrupt signals from reaching other patrons ...

Was it the awful use (or lack) of English language and punctuation?! :roflol:

As for your post about going hols, my parents are the same, never leave any numbers and no check-in calls for 2 weeks, don't blame you or them, it's a holiday after all!

Woo, love your post :) Many people I know would answer yes to most of those questions if they were truly honest about their usage! I don't have the mobile just the tablet, it comes on shopping trips and days out just in case I forget one of my bank cards so I can swap money over to a different account if need be or take pics of the kids and that is literally it :)
In total my contract came to something like $440 over the 2 years, when you consider the price of the handsets I had, a tablet worth $180 at the time and a phone about $160 and then $100 left for my calls texts and data for the 2 years, it really wasn't that bad a deal comparing it to others.. must of got lucky!

You know when I'm using the pc, my pound sign doesn't work! :heehee:

Told them on three occasions in the last 18 months that the coverage stated on their website is not as it is in real life.
On each occasion some gormless prat has stated, yes, sorry we have issues in your area, and all will be sorted in 72 hours.
Think its just what they are told to say when they dont have a clue.

So my advice is, give VODAFONE, have you got that VODAFONE, a wide berth.

Headline on a local paper.......More than £473,000 has been spent on a 2.7 stretch of road for resurfacing.

The road in question was in a reasonable condition and little used, while many other island roads are full of potholes. No, that's not my complaint. The spokesman said " well, the money had to be spent on something".........grrrrr! :wallbanging:

That's so frustrating Linz! We've seen an insurance write-off of ours back on the road within months, and that was after a road accident.

I know.. it's awful, especially in your case after an accident. We took it to the garage for an MOT, would have cost more than what we paid for it to get it right. :frown:

Agreed but while providing a less and less reliable signal to use it with ;)
