I've used DPD quite often, Sheal, and found them to be pretty good. Their tracking system is top notch as they give you the name of the driver, where he is on his delivery and how far [distance, time and number of drops] from you. They will also phone you to tell you they're only 5 minutes away. I only had trouble with one courier with a parcel from America. The parcel took 2 days to get from the USA to the UK courier who then took 5 days to deliver it without any notification that they were coming.:dunno::snorky:

Unfortunately we don't get to choose the courier when companies are sending goods. I complained bitterly to this particular company last time they used the courier in question, because that particular parcel hadn't been delivered after a fortnight. They offered to send me another and I said yes as long as they used Royal Mail and that one arrived in two days.

We have a post office in our village shop, and try to support it, but get fed up with businesses from the nearest town bringing loads of parcels here to post, plus garage car sales staff coming here to to tax dozens of cars at a time, forcing locals wanting a few stamps to queue behind them for ages.

We don't have many parcels delivered so rarely have a problem but most of them that we do have seem to be delivered by Independents. These are local people that collect parcels from a central point and deliver them in their cars. I don't know how the system works but, apparently, suppliers are using Independents a lot more.

We have a very good village post office, in the Village Tea Room, and if they are busy with local P.O. customers they ask businesses with a lot of work to do to leave it with them and they call them back later when they've done it. They tend to be quite busy with a lot of local work and they now have set up a small specialist Deli in the P.O. waiting area.

The only time we get annoyed is when their P.O. member of staff has gone sick and they can't get one of the others in to take over (they're all part timers). They were closed for five days the other week!

We don't have anything local now, sorry, we do have pubs, which will explain why people around here don't care much about anything, no respect, nowt

I think there is a problem that there are some people that do not do there jobs properly and don't care :dbgrtmb:

Our village is lucky to have a good and caring community and good facilities :blue thumb: but the pubs are down from four to two. It's an old village and dates back to at least the 12th Century.

Isn't there a local shop/pub/library etc. where you can actually plug in?

Moan :rrant: moan :rrant: moan :rrant: and quadruple moan!!! :rrant::rrant::rrant::rrant:

Through necessity, had to venture into a supermarket lunchtime today: what are people like!!? :dunno:

Pushing, shoving, ramming trollies hither and thither; barging, stopping dead in their tracks one pace ahead of you ... :slaphead:
Small children "screaming" at the top of their squeaky little voices and the parents seemingly oblivious :shhhh:
People's perception of "personal space" just doesn't appear to exist; the concept of a polite, "Excuse me" is non-existant. It was like walking around with a load of Zombies all focused on their own small world where no one else is either present, respected or even on their radar!!

Then you queue at a checkout where the staff are, allegedly, trained in a particular script/4 point checklist of things to say/do but you get met by Mrs Frosty Knickers (who is either just downright rude or her face is botoxed into paralysis: no smile, no "how do you do", no "would you like any assistance ... " (I didn't, but it may have been nice to have been asked!).

I may (I say "may", because of course, I may "not") have let that pass me by had I not just attended a hospital appointment where the same "customer" experience occurred! No smile, no "please/thankyou"!

A smile costs nothing; manners even less. Get a grip people :slaphead:

Locally, the "customer service" experience has proved a very positive one. Both retail and NHS.

I just think these big multinationals with their taglines of "Customer Service" need to really get down on the floor and see how their staff and their mission statements are waaaaaaaay out of kilter!!!

No, wait! I've been to your nearest "supermarket" ... they were true treasures: polite, service with a smile, helpful (very busy too!) and worked very efficiently
