This happens frequently, and hacks me off. My neighbors have a wooded lot, as we also do. In the past their trees break off huge limbs and they fall on our property. Right now in fact there is a huge long one in front. They have two big fat boys who should get their lazy sterns out to clean it off ---but no---they don't do that. In the past I 've gone to their front door to tell them, and then they will do it. Its easy for them to notice. There is also a huge dead tree of theirs, with a good wind it will brake off and fall on a garage of ours, we had our lawyer draw up a letter regarding it, and we delivered it to them. So today, husband says we should just go out there and throw it all on their property, which we have in the past, and guess what, they just leave it there. LOL. Lazy people.

Now this may seem very uncharitable and Bah Humbug but I'm getting fed up with the begging advertisements on TV.

In the last hour, on one channel, there have been seven ads to help children, at home and abroad, and they ask for a small donation, per month.

As you know, I do a lot of work for charities but this is overkill and I think that people just won't give if they're inundated with begging ads.

This is probably because of Christmas but, as I don't watch a lot of TV normally, it could be fairly common. (I'm not well at the moment so am spending a fair amount of time in front of the box :dunno:)

I think I'll stick to BBC.

I totally agree, Shiney. If you were to donate to all the Charities just on the TV alone you'd been in debt and have to get a Charity for help!! Some of them want you to adopt a Lion, Grizzly Bear, Tiger, Elephant, Porpoise, Orca etc........Oh, come on, I mean, imagine having to argue with any of them when they're looking in the Fridge:dunno::hate-shocked::snorky:
There also seems to be a flood of Life Insurance adverts making the younger married generation feel guilty about not have insurance to "protect" their families by quoting the highest figures they can find for a funeral in order to frighten them.:gaah:

That's another thing that bugs me. I listen to the radio a lot and they have all these charity ads on there. Apparently, to donate you just text a number and they tell you in the ad how much will go to the charity (98% of the donation).

First of all, they've lost me straight away as I don't have a phone to text with  but what really bugs me is that they say that this will be an annual/monthly donation unless you text them with a certain number. :wallbanging: I thought that the government had put a stop to the 'opting out' of payments. Maybe it's only on websites. :noidea:

I personally don't listen to the radio stations that have adverts as they do my head in with their constant repeating of them, much rather listen to JVS on Three Counties when I can get him or Five Live:biggrin:

We have had the usual begging charity envelopes come through the door over the months and more so as it got nearer to Xmas, but never say no to the free pens we get or the free coasters we get from the British Red Cross:snorky:

We already to belong to the RSPB,National Trust and English Heritage and when we are away on holiday we always buy gifts from those charities shops that we support and always make a point on visiting the RNLI shops to also buy gifts so I think we do enough at the moment but like others don't like the constant bombardment to get even more money especially when I read that the top people of these charities earn a good wage off of the back of said charities:sad:

And some places will ask you at the check out, "want to donate for----" I always say, I am already donating to my chosen cause.

We just support local charities that are really needy. Plus We're Life members of the National Trust and Govenors of the RNLI (as I used to be a sailor). That's more than enough. We don't get anything coming through the letter box as I put a stop to that years ago.

As you all know I don't watch much TV (I find it a complete waste of time, I hate the soaps & I cannot tolerate the adverts telling me that I need this & that! Over Xmas I have watched a few programmes mainly wildlife programmes :dbgrtmb:, but I've been getting really irritated by the charity adverts.....no I'm not horrible or selfish & yes I do give money to the charities that I choose, But that's just it 'what I choose' I don't want to be told that this person has no food, this child is living on the streets it's really horrible (it's meant to be I know) I just don't need to keep seeing it! Rant over! Bring me spring so I can unplug the tv & play in the dirt again!!! :hapydancsmil:

I would give to an organization that would use the money to go out and abuse the abusers. Then publicize their name and address and place of occupation Until one comes along, I'll stick with the usual donations I give.

You know what REALLY REALLY annoys me? Went out for a stroll this morning - a small stone found it's way into my boot. No matter what I did, I couldn't shake it out of the boot and it ALWAYS seemed to make its way to the ball of my foot when I put the boot back on.

It's almost as if the little sod was deliberately hiding only to reappear once the boot had been replaced.
We're talking full lace walking boots here - a pain to take off and lace up again :gaah:
