Excelled yourself @ARMANDII ! I normally buy the likes of Imperial Leather soap, is this a bit posh for deer:)?. There used to be ghastly carbolic soap I remember from school, is this more the right stuff? it seemed to play havoc with your skin from memory, skin was clean but went red and peeled, not attractive. Should I buy the cheapest stuff I can find? Didn't know there was such a thing as soap substitute @shiney . What the hell is that or am I better not to ask?:):yikes:

Oh, that brings back some, [not terribly good], memories, silu:hate-shocked::dunno::heehee: As I remember it used to come in the form of a really hard long yellowish bar that looked like hard cheese.

There's a bit of a difference of opinion on the soap. I was advised to buy the cheapest, smelliest (as in perfume) solid soap available! It certainly doesn't need to be anything fancy. Perfume works to repel wild boar too so I suspect that any and all perfumes suggest to them that humans are about so they keep their distance. I used up my mother's cheap'n'nasty perfumes by spraying long strips of material and tying them to canes too. Then a generous dusting of chilli powder on the manure heap as a final deterrent. Back to the deer though. Scarecrows, movement and scents will all make them think twice.....tie them to trees and hang them from branches if the ground's frozen :ideaIPB:

"Soap substitutes (emollient wash products) Mix a small amount (around teaspoonful) of soap substitute in the palm of your hand with a little warm water and spread it over damp or dry skin. Rinse and pat the skin dry, being careful not to rub it. You can use soap substitutes for handwashing, showering or in the bath."

:ideaIPB::ideaIPB: AAh ha I have some gorn orf Channel no 5. I was so stingy using it that after some considerable time it eventually went sour. I have also got some hideous perfume given to me as a present which would reduce the strongest to tears. I'll get going with these and see how effective they are, many thanks @noisette47 .

I was advised by Bressingham (they've been doing it for years) that they dislike the smell of the horrible (possibly carbolic) soap the most, but I don't see why you can try anything else. :)

I've just acquired some new rubber politician masks, so will be re-doing the scarecrows tomorrow if it's fine. Straw, carrier bags for the head, old dungarees, wig, fluo safety gilet and, when I'm feeling perfectionist, clapped-out gardening gloves and shoes and a toy gun  They give everybody and everything a nasty turn!:heehee: Pascal.jpg Henri II.jpg

I'll 2nd that @noisette47 :). Your Iris are frozen solid IN my greenhouse so hoping for the best. It took me all my time to actually get the greenhouse doors open and then shut again as they are pretty well iced up. Roll on Spring.....OMG we haven't even got past Christmas yet :rolleyespink:
