      I meant noxious

I really wish that was the case for me too, you're very lucky! The back gardens are only about 15m long and 20m wide so it's quite close unfortunatley.

I don't have a problem with hobos, the railway line only goes to the redundant coal mine. Train hopping is very rare here.

In fact I don't have a problem with contained fires, ie in a bin/chiminea or on actual bonfire night to get rid of wood.. not bloody non-combustible things.

No, I haven't contacted anyone about it as I fear it's just going to open another can of worms. Your right network rail won't do anything. In the 9 years, I've lived here they cut back the overgrowth once.. so no hope there. The council will issue a letter asking them to stop it and it'll just be obvious I have a problem.. then queue more rubbish over my fence, kids sticking fingers up at me etc basically petty things, which has only stopped in the last year.

I'd like a quiet life but when you're running back and forth to the window checking on someone else's fire that's already exploded 5 times and shook your windows because they are just not watching it.. takes the biscuit.

Just so glad I didn't put my chicken run at the back, it was supposed to go behind the trampoline :phew:

@Jiffy we all know your the biggest pyromancer ever to have lived :heehee:

for me that is a little conflicting. they allow chickens, but no open fires. Interesting. To me, having chickens is still considered "farm" situation. and in farm situation you need to burn stuff. So seems like the issue as you say is not the fire, but what he burns. Or that, there probably used to be open fires allowed but people take advantage of it and burn stuff they should not burn so then those folks hurt it for those that just want to burn branches or garden stuff. There is always a rotten apple that spoils things for folks.

Don't get me wrong we're allowed open fires but when they are regular and toxic it really does become a nuisance.

Some housing estates/streets/areas allow chickens, mine was built in the 50's just after the war when they encouraged "grow your own" and have your own flock or keep rabbits for eating, so it's in my deeds. Some estates/areas were built in the 80's and it's written in the deeds of the house whether you're allowed poultry or not. I don't burn the chicken bedding either it gets bagged up and composted.

We have in my area. Cows, chickens, goats, sheep, horses. ducks. Keep forgetting to take my camera and get a shot of the long horn steer on the next road.

I am appalled at the lack of timely support provided to our overseas territories - we had plenty of time to get ourselves into gear (as did the French and Dutch governments) and only now are we taking action.

I read that a military spokesman has said that there's no point sending aid if we don't know what aid is needed.

Well, it's a hurricane - so I would have guessed temporary shelter, water, food, medical aid and boots on the ground. We could have helped with boarding up windows, cutting down trees that were likely to fall and cause damage etc - we did nothing to prepare.

Tony B will never lie down. Even though 80% of us think he is a warmongering , toady hypocrite , he thinks we don't understand and are wrong.

They say moving house is just about the most stressful thing you'll ever do.

I always thought maybe that was a bit of a cliché. That's because it's nearly 30 years since we last did it. I'd forgotten just how much 'fun' it all is.

I won't bore you with all the details, suffice to say we've been told we'll have completion and will be moving next Friday (22nd). Removals firm is booked, everyone is ready. Every day this week we've been told exchange of contracts would happen. Every day it didn't. :wallbanging:

I think I am slowly losing the will to live... :rage:
