my last GSD would run to the window to see where the noise of the thunder came from or the distant fireworks. I never praised him for doing that, but also never said a thing or change my body language.

Today I thought I would pop along to Wyevale for a cheese scone and a pot of tea, well you just have to! The scone was plain with just grated cheese on top, now I think you mix cheese before you bake them and not dump it on top.

I did complain, the girl said sorry there must have been a mix up……….yer right:nonofinger:

I had an internet breakdown yesterday, no correction a phone like breakdown.....

              IMG_3388.JPG

Who in their right mind buries a cable just inches below ground at the base of a bank, and waits for the council to come along and cut through it with a 'scrub' trimmer? The same company that said we could have reported the fault online, having rung them on mobile phone! :wallbanging: Do they not realise that not everyone possesses a phone that jumps through hoops!

We were told that somebody would be here within 24 hours to put the fault right, and yes, the chap turned up on his own to deal with it. We live on a narrow road with passing places which is also a bus route and no one to watch his back.

              IMG_3389.JPG

Where's health and safety? He sat painstakingly piecing together each piece of wire for an hour or so and then taped it all up. Job done, albeit a bodged one! He then buried the cable a few inches underground.......until the next time! :doh:Openreach are contracted to British Telecom, need I say anymore?

Now, in *your* shoes I think I would have pointed out that there really was NO mix up ... that is why you were complaining! ;) :heehee: Next time, mix the cheese up in the mix!!
BTW ... did they have any good offers on ... in the plant department? :dunno:

Allthough electrical fittings are supposed to be manufactured to standards, that doesn't appear to cover the wiring connection locations!

Many years ago, before the nanny state made it illegal, I installed an electric shower in our bathroom, doing all the plumbing and electrics myself, including new circuit and mcb in a spare way in the consumer unit, also installing the shower fan myself controlled by a ceiling pull switch and fed from the bathroom ceiling light electrics

The fan switch failed a couple of days ago, and I thought it would be a straightforward swop, but no, the old one had the feed terminals at the 'top' and the new fitting had them at the 'sides' (in relation to both fixing screws and the on/off idicator text alignment) meaning the connections were now at 90 degrees to how they were and I had to try and remember what the cables were some 20 years after I wired it up.

Luckily I had been generous with the lengths of cable in the back box, unlike some electricians who seem to take pride in just how short they can cut them and still manage to get a screwdriver to the terminals, meaning anything other than an exact like for like replacement requires a load of hassle.

I'm now going to have a glass of wine because I think I deserve it, and to celebrate getting the job done myself for £7.

Welcome to the joys of BT and living on a narrow road in the Scottish countryside @Sheal. We have exactly the same senario annually and the hedge cutter normally goes through the phone cable at least in 1 place annually but has been known to excel himself and cut the cable in up to 4 places during 1 cut of the verge.
Luckily the cable, despite going past our property doesn’t supply us:phew: but connects to the cottages down the road. About 4 years ago when the Openreach van turned up, I helpfully showed the engineer where the cable had been shredded. He fixed the cable but didn’t start to bury it in the verge but just placed the cable on top of the verge ready for the next time the verges would be cut.I suggested it might be a good idea to dig down the bank and bury the cable? He replied that the cable was........self burying, yer what????? He didn’t even have a smile on his face when he said this:rolleyespink:. Funnily enough the cable didn’t bury itself and yup got shredded yet again about 2 months later!

It would have been better to release them and let them take their chance with nature. I'm sure many would have survived.

Sounds like a con to me. You shouldn't need to pay. It sounds as though you don't even know what company has charge you.

You need to contact your card company, tell them that you dispute the charge and it may well be fraudulent. It appears as if the originator is in the UK and you live in Canada, haven't been to the UK and are not dealing with any company in the UK.

You tell them to put a stop on the charge and you would like them to let you know who the company is and what they say you have purchased - before you report it to the police for fraud.

I'd guess that you've already 'paid up' and that's what's alerted you to somebody using your credit card details, which may have been skimmed, details obtained via an insecure online purchase, or one of various other means.

I hope that you've now cancelled this card to prevent further fraudulent purchases, whilst awaiting a replacement card and a refund.

This is why it's esential to always have at least 2 means of payment, especially whilst away on hols.
