For anything bought or sold over scales, the scales must be calibrated as you know. There should be a certificate of calibration displayed on the premises, there is a tolerance for any scales a plus or minus figure, may be worth looking into ;);)

The scales will also have to have a seal on any screws for the use of setting/calibrating and date stamped

I think the Vets, like many others, think Pet Owners are Walking Cash Machines, Woo, and are more interested in their financial health than that of the animals..:dunno::doh:

That happens quite a lot on Amazon and Tesco . "This item is Not Available". So why show the bloomin' thing !
If they are M3.5 electrical screws , plenty on Ebay for £1.99.

Found 20 for £1.75 on ebay, but I opted for 20 for £2.05 from Amazon as we have loads of codes from doing surveys to use and ebay want real money. I'll disperse the remaining 18 amongst a few different locations to increase my chances of finding them next time I need them.

I bought 4 plastic pork loin chops in Morrisons today.
No fat, it had all been cut off, obviously along with the skin, so no chance of crackling.

I thought i'd try frying as most of my other attempts have come up with stuff that is basically inedible.
They looked ok in the pan, and what little fat that was there I left pretty soggy, hoping to not overcook the meat.

Another two chops went in the bin, couldn't even cut them with a knife let alone chew the bloody things.
What the hell are they doing with meat these days.

Sorry @pete , its all about the meat that YOU picked. not what they are doing to it. there are always choices at the meat counter. if you want tender juicy meat, either pork or beef, the key word is fat and marbled fat withing the meat. Pork chops with little or no fat, and no marbled fat will come out tough. If you want that type of cut, and want less fat, you need to marinate it in something like buttermilk for an hour, or a marinate you find on a shelf in a jar. When looking for pork, look for some marbling through the meat not just around the meat. Through the meat will ensure a more tender piece.

Wickes, Screwfix, Homebase, B&Q, Toolstation, etc. don't stock the size I need. Checking online saved me hours of wasted time driving around looking for them. My local electrical wholesaler does not open on a Sunday (when I'm passing), requiring an addtional 15 mile round trip, the queing up behing several contractors buying vast amounts of materials when all I need is a couple of screws.

I take on board what you are saying @redstar but I remember pork chops with an inch of fat then the skin with a few bristles.
Always cooked the fat crispy, but the meat was still tender, now you have to eat it pretty much raw, it's the modern fad.

Nowdays they cut the fat off, assume they have a use for it so we cant have it left on the chop.
You can still buy chops with bone in them, guess they dont have a use for the bone, so they leave it in as it adds to the weight.

There are so many fat people around, so the healthy eating suggestion that we get by cutting off the fat , dont seem to be working.

Or is it down to something more basic like animal feeds and animal breeds?

I've got a local shop where you cant even get in the door without knocking stuff over.
They sell everything, and I mean everything, but in small quantities, you normally have to ask as finding what you want is a nightmare, but the Chinese bloke that runs it knows exactly where it is.
