You have a beautiful warm looking home and those draws are a lot better since they've been brought out...sorry to hear your wife as MS and I hope she's not at a bad stage with it [IMG]as I've got MCTD and no the complications that come with these diseases :)

:wow: you've done a good job, my hubby as had our kitchen stripped out twice, as he's an X-builder :hapydancsmil:I dropped on mate :heehee:

They left it unsaid, Jack, and they won't admit it, but it's "ageism". You could ask them to give you the details of their criteria, but that would be like trying to pull teeth.!!

Actually, that's not too bad of a quote if that's a comprehensive policy quote. Small mileage does count towards a discount but not a great deal. No claims discount is also vulnerable to being greatly reduced in a claim unless it's not the policy owners fault, although you can pay an extra £30 to "protect" the no claims discount.

I just paid £255 for my car insurance , it seems to have been that figure for the last 10 years ! Maybe there is a loading when you get past 80 ? Have you tried all 3 of the big comparison sites , as different companies quote on them .

The other thing that seems to be a reality, as discovered by a recent TV program, is that if you go back for a second quote from the same company it will usually be higher second time around, as they think you were having difficulty in getting another like quote.:wallbanging::snorky:

This is exactly the same situation with on-line flight prices.
The trick is to find one, but leave that window open and open another to look for a better price, then if you don't find one come back to the first window. If you use the same window to seek a better price, when you come back to the first site, the price will have gone up.

My car insurance went down this time.

All I know is if they quote my hubby to much for the two motor's...then he goes tracking on line for a cheaper insurance and when he finds one, he goes back to the original one and asks if they can beat it or at the same cost and they always do :)

That's the way I've done it in the past. I did it recently on our house insurance.

The best one is for tyres. Get a quote from one supplier and then give that to a couple more. Sometimes I've "invented" a lower price and as long as it isn't more than ten or fifteen percent less they'll usually match it.

With "everything," prices quoted are usually the maximum a supplier thinks a customer will pay.

@Doghouse Riley and @wiseowl wben Im not working, gardening or sleeping, I hang out in the kitchen. Our house was built in 1988 and had a long narrow kitchen and when we had parties everybody would cram in there if they weren't in the hot tub. So we decided to blow out walls to make it bigger. Which as you know means not just walls but floors and ceilings had to be demolished and new put in. It took my OH and I 5 months to complete as we only had week nights and weekends to do the work. Even the thought of that reno mames me feel like I can taste wallboard dust!

I think @wiseowl that range of yours would have been a wonderful option.

Think I got pics..... hmm, ever since I sorted my pictures, I can't find what I'm looking for.. well at least this one shows the good part. The one greenhouse is only 3 feet from my back garden doors :) GH from Kitchen (1).JPG

@Doghouse Riley I'm only stating what my hubby tells me but I do know his insurancers always want the name first of the company and the offer they're doing it at to match it.

It's mainly about the trying on game with insurers :)
