I went into a garden centre today that I don't go into that often. It was conveniently placed between a job I was doing and a personal errand I had to run. I was also due a free cup of coffee before the end of the month. I was horrified to find the cafe was closed for refurbishment. As a member you would think that some notification would have been in order. What annoyed me was the hoarding around the work area that said

"We are working to improve your garden centre."

It's not my garden centre. They can stick their garden centre where the sun doesn't shine as far as I'm concerned. I just wanted the free coffee I was entitled

Had the sign said

"The cafe will be closed from "date" to "date". Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

I wouldn't have minded so much.

I find that the trend these days. The roadworks on the A14 are "improving your journey". I find them very patronising. I find many adverts on tv and radio patronising too.

It's not just the adverts, it's many of the presenters that I find patronising and some just plain annoying.

I don't know which early evening BBC programme it was at the end of last week, but it featured one of their many attractive young female presenters of Asian ethnicity. She was trying her hand at playing cricket. Nothing wrong with that. She had on the full kit including pads and a helmet despite the fact someone was only dollying up under-arm throws from a third of the way down the wicket for her to attempt to hit. What I found a bit annoying was the fact that either she, or the director, thought it necessary that she should also be wearing a naffin' salmon pink fashion pashmina scarf around her neck at the same time.

The other thing that annoyed me last week was that I put my old leccy piano on e-Bay. There were three bids, the first and last from the same person, who before the last day, e-mailed me withdrawing his bid.
I didn't make a fuss about it. But then a third person bid and won it.
They sent men e-mail saying that before they paid for it, would I confirm it was in perfect condition and what guarantee was I offering.

I calmly wrote back advising them that it was in "good condition" other than the faults I'd described, as I had stated and of which I showed photos in the listing.
Also it was a private sale and there was no guarantee and if they checked any of the completed listings of the similar models sold privately on eBay, they'd find none had a guarantee either.
Some people amaze me how they don't know how eBay works.
He must have accepted this as an hour later, he'd paid by PayPal.

I've got to say, I was impressed with TNT the carriers, I booked a pick-up on-line for it on Sunday afternoon and they collected it lunch time on Monday when I was at golf. That and the stand cost £46 to send. But the purchaser paid that. It was a bit of a pain packing it up, I cut down the carton in which my new one was delivered. Re-used the polystyrene packaging and yards of parcel tape.

 

North Korea - it looks like the trade sanctions are working.

Peace talks.....my foot....he looks so disengenuous.

 

The North Koreans will have reached a stage where they've resolved the problems with their missiles and these will be squirreled away to avoid detection. The thought that they would actually be willing to go truly "non nuclear," is beyond my comprehension.

I saw this, this morning and it made me smile. I might be naive but little steps have to start somewhere

 

being a family type, I feel the need to share, a baby girl is due in the next few weeks. My moan is my son,daddy,is going to be a daddy again at 16 !!!!!! 2 children at 16!!!!!!!!
