    Online admissions! That's my moan :phew:
    I finally applied for secondary school for my twins, I've been avoiding it :redface:
    What on earth is wrong with pen and paper?
    Every school churnes letters out by the bucket load, usually asking for money or donations!
    When it comes to something as important as a secondary school place, they like to be paperless!!!! My twins come home with duplicate letters weekly :dunno:
    Anyway, it's done. It was a right faff though! Password this, user name that, identity number this , password needed 10 to 20 characters with upper and lower case, numbers and symbols :rolleyespink:
    Pheeew, that was good to get off my chest!:smile:

      I'm sure she's a very nice person but obviously her white hair and hair style is her "trade mark/gimmick" and every time I see her in the advert, the Dulux Dog

      [IMG]

      always comes to mind.:dunno::doh::heehee:

        @longk

        What gets me about the Oral B advert is the stupid anomaly between the graphics and the 'real life' cleaning. In the graphics it shows the toothbrush being used by placing on top of the tooth so that the rotary action cleans around and down the tooth. In the video the girl has the brush on the front of the teeth which results in it being 90 degrees out from the way they say you should use it!

        Doesn't give all that much faith in the advert. :noidea:

        And I think the teeth are too white and make them look like false teeth to me.

            @shiney , you're expected to have one! My children do homework ( maths) via a webby/ app thing.
            No internet? they suggest going to a library!!!!! Like they aren't closing at a rate of knots!:thud:
            Oh boy:wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:
            You are allowed to ask preferred schools for an application form but wouldn't you look a little bit behind the times? Anyway, job done:snorky:
            I live in a area of high intake of food banks,
            I hate that it's like this :frown:, internet is a luxury, not everyone can afford it. Schools shouldn't preach, they should teach!
            Whoa!!! I feel better for that :love30::heehee:
            I get soooo angry ;)

              Sadly, internet has not been a luxury for a number of years now - so many things require email or online application it is remarkable; in fairness, it does have its benefits, the main one being that less paper is being used, and everything gets to its intended recipient almost immediately; add that to the reduction in fuel used to move all the paper about, and physical storage space being much smaller, it does start to look sensible.

              Blimey, I am starting to sound like a greenie!!

                A lot of businesses still don't trust the internet completely (I don't blame them) and make hard copies of most things - even large companies do it.

                I know a lot of people without internet/computers and they're increasingly finding that they are expected to have it. :mad:

                For me it's simply a tool to use at my convenience (no need for funny comments :heehee:). I still want all my bills as paper ones.

                What worries me a bit is the total reliance on computers and especially smart phones. The smart phone/iPad etc. syndrome is now a recognised medical condition. :rolleyespink: They're also finding that so much reliance on InfoTech is affecting the ability to absorb and understand information and reducing attention span.

                I'm sure our parents and grandparents had some similar moans about us. :)

                  Both Apple and Android have introduced a method of regularly showing your time in front of the screen; it pops up weekly on my ipad say average this and that and if your up or down on the previous period. It's not perfect but a neat way of doing it and in the age of gaming it does tie in with 'ranking' so people will want to beat previous scores (hopefully down rather than up!) or see if they can keep it exactly level

                                Sit down, have a sip from a glass of water and that should help if something "has gone down the wrong way."
