Although this is my preferred mode of transport during our winter months. At least we had stones to mark our route during the sand storm.

They worked non-stop for 30 hours the other day(s) harvesting the beet in the field opposite us and then harrowing it. The noise and headlights didn't really bother me. The closest they could get was about 150ft.

They managed it just in time before the rain came and it was all loaded into lorries shortly afterwards. Doing it before the rain also kept them from muddying up the road.

Had a knock on our front door one day last week and it was the young girl from next door asking me if she could pop round with their dinner as their oven had packed up so couldn’t cook for her family. She promptly brought it round (beef stew) and then informed me it needed cooking for 2.5 hours and would be back round later on when it was ready:yikes:

Tuesday of this week another knock on the front door.”Would we mind cooking their dinner for them as the cooker was still broken but the man was coming tomorrow to fix it” Tuesdays dinner,Fish and Chips all from frozen and would take 3/4’s of an hour to cook:yikes: “Never Mind”I said to Mr Kandy, on Wednesday “the cooker man has arrived and will fix the cooker so our neighbour will be cooking for them tonight” :yay:

Thursday teatime I was just walking down to the garage when our neighbours hubby collared me.”Any chance of you cooking our very very large Pizza tonight only the cooker man brought the wrong part so another one has to be ordered”:hate-shocked: I turned the oven on at 5.00 pm so that it would have heated up by the time he came round with the Pizza at 5.15pm. It was actually 5.45pm by the time he arrived as he had been on the phone to EE about his wife’s broken phone:noidea: The Pizza was enormous and practically filled the oven on its stone and I didn’t think I would be able to shut the oven door:biggrin: 20 minutes later the hubby came back with his oven gloves and promptly left the front door wide open so all the heat from our house went straight out the front door:yikes:

So I would be very interested in how much all this extra cooking has cost us in our electric cooker with all these extra hours of cooking (We have our grub at lunchtime) and it seems we are just around to be at other people’s beck and call and we end up with bigger bills:sad:

PS,Inbetween coming to our door the neighbours over the road have also been collared to cook the meals and transport them back over the road or they use their microwave or slow cooker:yes:

It is times like this when I feel like moving far away from people and their selfish ways as I know if our cooker broke down we would have to go out to restaurants for our meals or nip down to the nearest fish and chip shop:snorky:

I would have told her I am baking a Christmas cake in the oven for two and a half hours and I can't open the oven door.;)
