Messier 56 (also known as M56 or NGC 6779) is a globular cluster in the constellationLyra. It was discovered by Charles Messier on January 19, 1779. The cluster is located almost midway along an imaginary line between Albireo (β Cygni) and Sulafat (γ Lyrae). It is a challenge to find with large (50–80 mm) binoculars, appearing as a slightly fuzzy star.[8] The cluster can be resolved using a telescope with an aperture of 8 in (20 cm) or larger.[9]

The grass will recover, I know, but they need to come out and do something about the ruts. Some of them are really deep.

It looks as though they cleaned up the pavement. :blue thumb: In some areas that would be overlooked in the clean-up department

I did my Tesco shopping at 2 a.m. No problem parking and no fighting with trolleys. Actually, there was nobody there apart from me and the staff. :blue thumb:

Just a slight moan from me - the music was too loud!

Nah, that was a mix of heavy rain the nights before I took the photos and people walking over it all day.

I read that the Government are stating that all councils/residents must recycle food waste because of a Methane build up in land fill sites.
Now this is good and I totally agree. My local council did issue Brown Bins for food waste, the problem is that the bin men don't always return your bin and my council want to charge its customers £30 for a new one...Well folks they can sod off:rasp:

                    We have four bins

Black for plastic, metal and glass.

                    This is empted four-weekly.

If it's plastic, it goes in, I don't consider it my job to try to read the tiny markings on the bottom of plastic items which are supposed to tell you if it's recyclable or not. so it's mostly milk cartons, glass bottles and the occainal metal item like my old golf trolley and a few months ago a coffee machine.

                    Blue for paper and card.

                    This is emptied four-weekly.

My wife usually manags to fill this with the cardboard from her on-line purchases.

Green for garden waste and food.we pay an extra £35 a year for this on top of the council tax.

                    This is collected weekly.

I only put garden waste in there, I won't have it stinking with rotting food.
It can go weeks in the winter when I don't need to put it out as there's nothing in it.

Grey (half the size of the others) for non recyclable.

                    This is collected fortnighty.

Everything else goes in this, including bits of waste food, but in big plastic tie-handled bags.
However, at the end of the first week, I have to stand in the bin to compress the contents, so that the second week's waste will go in.

Our bin men are great, a three-man team, they just get on with the job, they don't check the contents of bins.
The service is contracted out, so they will be on "time and finish." so no "jobsworths."

I don't recycle anything, have no facilities to. We have two large skips which everything goes in.

We're fairly conscientious about all our waste and the council are quite helpful in assisting the residents to be so.

They give us a calendar of which days each bin is being collected and a very comprehensive list of what can go in each bin - including pictures.

Green bin - garden and food waste - free of charge weekly.
                      Black bin - non-recyclables - fortnightly
Clear plastic bags (supplied by the council) - paper, cardboard, plastic, metal - fortnightly
Blue plastic box - glass - fortnightly

Our binmen are working to rule from the 29th December so our council have told us there will be no recycling picked up until the end of January so we should put it in the normal bin. But because the bins are collected on a Tuesday and there will be no NY collection, my area won't be done until the 8th January. And we are only allowed two extra bags per bin to be left on the street.... Yeah right! There's going to be so many extra bags we won't be able to see across the road!
