I also got told off for having metal dust caps... apparently they corrode and bond to the valve. I wouldn't mind but I didn't put them on!

Well, it's happened. I am now a pensioner :th scifD36: - don't know whether to laugh or cry. On the upside - another 12 years and I'll also be able to claim my state pension...:frown: - assuming I make it that long...

How can you be a pensioner you don't collect your state pension until you 67 so that makes you 55 as @shiney says.

He could easily be retired and collecting a pension from work. :noidea: I think you can do that in your fifties. :blue thumb:

My big, fed up moan is about weed resistant fabric that the weeds merrily grow through regardless. Like most people with gardens, I have been having a weed-in today; I understand that the borders will all need a lot of work, but really object to having to fork out weeds from a path between border and hedge which has fabric and bark chippings for the full length :-(

You quite often find that the weed seeds have sown themselves (by air, bird etc.) in the bark on the surface and then as they grow in the bark they put down small fibrous roots that grab (technical term) the fabric. These can eventually work themselves through the fabric and into the soil underneath.

You can help stop this by giving the bark a quick rake every so often.

You can even bring in weed seeds in things like stone chippings, bark, compost as well
