    Our postie lives just off of our lane, he's the Dad of one of our youngest's friends. We once received a letter with only our surname and only the name of one of the nearby villages ...no road name, postcode or even county!! I know we are the only people with this surname in the country....but we were still impressed! :dbgrtmb:

      Isn't it strange?

      Just tried to start the car - battery flat as hasn't been driven for a week;
      Connected up battery charger - charger faulty, blows fuse, won't charge battery;
      Can't get out to get any food - for ourselves or Mum;
      We're just going to have to go without until next week when we get the online delivery.

      Still...at least the sun is out :noidea:.

      Fair play to Green Flag - they will be here at 11.50 - I know the name of the mechanic and his reg. number - which is good. The Green Flag app is great - the mechanic knows my location from the GPS signal on the 'phone. It even shows me where the mechanic is...marvellous.

          The AA app works the same, but I've changed my insurance this year and it comes with RAC cover, or so it says, but I've not been given a number to call the RAC on or what info they will want from me if I do need them.
          Tried calling the insurance company a while ago and they weren't answering the phone due to CV.

          Tried calling the AA to cancel my direct debit and they were not answering the phone because of CV.
          Excuses excuses.

            Been with Green Flag for ever - £65 a year all in - the lot - it costs far more than that just for a tow to the garage.

            I could have spoken to someone if I was broken down on the motorway - otherwise it's use the app - which I do prefer now I've used it.

                Buttons! The lack thereof. We always had a button box and cut the buttons off anything we threw out; or, rather, that we relegated to the rag box. Working on knitting " ear savers" for those who wear surgical masks full time and they need BUTTONS. The only estimate I have was 9 cents a button! I am making dozens...Nothing I wear has buttons else would cut them off. I will continue to knit in faith and hope. Life was better IN MY DAY!

                    I have complained to them many times about their excessive packaging when they ask but to no avail!

                      I wouldn't even think of buying something like that online.;)

                      I went in Morrisons this morning, they have items on offer, cant get any cheese that I like because they keep selling it on offer, so sold out as usual, loads of the rubbish cheese that nobody wants.
                      Big gaps on a lot of the shelves of all kinds of things with offer tags and temporally out of stock on them.

                      We all like an offer, but what is the point of doing this kind of thing if they sell out in no time and cant keep up with demand, especially with what is going on right now.

                        We did an Asda click and collect a month ago with 15 items unavailable, two weeks ago a 'government minister' said all the supermarkets were back to normal, today our second Morrisons delivery came (given up with Asda) and again there were over 15 items were 'missing' ie unavailable including veg basics like carrots. The Minister was like most of them now, talking out of their rear end!!!

                          It's the whole supply chain that's affected and its so thin that it can break at any point. I'm with a company that produces consumer goods, and can see the fragility of the chain.

                          You need the factories to be working (assuming that raw materials get supplied), then assume that deliveries to the distribution centres run. And that the DCs are open to receive the shipments. Then you need someone to take the orders from the retailers, someone in the DC to load the truck that someone has to drive etc. It's not easy when most businesses are on skeleton staffing in order to maintain safe working environments.

                          I get my groceries delivered from Tesco or Morrisons as always for the past ten years. The items that have been on short supply or not available are eggs, bananas and flour. Eggs, Really? Have the hens stopped laying then? :scratch:

                            When I was in Sainsbury's the other day there were quite a lot of eggs (all the usual sizes and suppliers) but that was when they opened. I could see most people taking them.

                            The local store, Budgens, must have their own supplier. Their eggs are stacked high (from the floor to chest high) in the traditional trays of 30's and a pile of boxes by the side for you to fill yourself.

                              Went for our normal walk and one stile has had a bit of a make over :biggrin: good job I looked the other side before stepping down as the old rails were the other side a one had six inch nail sticking out point up :sad: and what's more the farmers cattle were in that field as well,
                              Edit
                              I didn't mention that I pick up the rail and hit it against the post and bent the nails over so no one or animal can step on them :dbgrtmb:
