@Upsydaisy that happens here too and I am so glad the person stood up and pointed the finger at the contractor - hope he gets a big fine!

Well, I know this kind of thing goes on all the time, but I have some stuff I want to get rid of.
Tried the local tip, you have to book a slot and only up to two weeks in advance, all slots are fully booked.
Just another example of people, companies, councils , using CV to not work and make us all jump through hoops.
I'd never dump stuff in the countryside, but you only have to be a little bit dishonest and at times like this it does appear to be an option.

        My new rules with rubbish:

        If it composts, compost it.

Will it recycle? If yes put it in the recycling bin, if no will it break/dismantle to recycle?

If yes, break it and recycle it, if no then will it go into the black bin bags?

If yes it goes in there (breaking apart as needed), if not then the final stage is will it burn?

If yes, burn it, if no then inevitably it is a run to the dump when I can.

          I cant burn it.
Your not supposed to burn stuff now incase someone has a lung problem in the area;)
Facebook is full of disgruntled people in the area.

Its some old decking and two old fence panels, so nothing environmentally unfriendly, just cant get rid of it.

I agree with all of the above except burning the stuff - we're not allowed so I probably make more trips to the dump than some bears!

If I had space I'd burn mine after dark, but at this time of the year I'd end up scorching something or other, and I dont mean bits of me.

I agree with all the above except we can burn stuff and the local dump (not very local) is closed.

If you're coming in this direction then it can go on my bonfire heap. I have a monthly bonfire but only after it has rained.

I've had June's bonfire but July is not far away

That's about what my regular monthly little fire looks like :blue thumb: but I sometimes go a couple of months without one. I don't set fire to it if the weather has been dry and hot so that one was nearly two months whilst I waited for rain. I also wait until the wind is blowing across the field so when the harvest is nearly ready I also don't have a fire. I don't think the farmer would be happy with a burnt crop.

I always phone my neighbour when I'm having one and he chucks his rubbish over the fence for me to burn.

That's OK, my neighbours love me . They don't have to go to the tip (even when it's open) and they can have as much potash as they want.

The fire is never lit when the wind is blowing their way. Fairly recently one of the neighbours had his conifers reduced in height. The tree surgeon was going to charge him £100 to take it away (and burn it :rolleyespink:) so we burnt it on my bonfire heap. fifteen minutes for the two of us to load it, fifteen minutes of fierce fire with hoses at the ready, ten minutes raking and 24 hrs to burn to ash - plus half an hour of tea and cake in his garden.
