Yesterday was a lost day, spent down a software wormhole. Woke up thought I'll "just" put an app on my computer to link with shiney new phone. Go to Microsoft store, find app, won't install on PC. Right try and access Microsoft store direct from PC, discover Microsoft store app not on PC. Try and download relevant program, won't install (no app to install with). Go shopping come back and roll back last update of Windows 10 no good. Reinstall updates, google problem, read forum, try solution, run cmd to restore registry, rude message. Google rude message, read more forums and suggested solutions. Discover this is not an uncommon problem; try different fix. Break for lunch. Try another fix, further reading shows although some of these fixes fix some occurrences, there is no one solution. Consider clean reinstall of Windows 10; not guaranteed to work, nor is creating new admin account on PC. Finally find blog from IT professional in South America who had same problem and goes through fixing this issue step by step offering 4 possible solutions. Solution 1 run PowerShell as admin enter reset cmds no joy. 2 as before, but remove some security protestion no joy. Solution 3 remove all security protection and repeat, no joy. Finally 4 run cmd as admin enter code from step 3 and press return; screen full of orange and red warnings, then goes blue and successfully installs a load of apps from Microsoft including the desired one. Close various things and tidy up, go to store and download desired app, installs 5 minutes later phone connected. Only took 6 - 7 hours, day lost in garden, opened bottle of wine and poured glass. Sat back and roundly cursed modern technology and own stubbornness, poured another glass of wine and went to do some cooking.

So many of these products are plug and play, but they never are.

I have a delivery due tomorrow, I had a message from Royal Mail it stated:

“Your parcel is due on Monday between 10.28 am and 2.28 pm”

What is the point of giving such precise times to the minute, almost to the second, with such a huge window in between of 4hours

Sadly, that sort of thing is rife with all sorts of deliveries nowadays - it is because there is a computer that decides how many drops a delivery person will be able to do in a day by putting the deliveries into a selected order based on distance between drops and size of package to maximise space used in their vehicle, and then that data is used to performance manage the delivery people when they fall behind on the (nigh on impossible) schedule.

When microwave ovens first appeared in the shops, there were all kinds of rumours going around. Don't trust them they said, and "your hair and teeth will fall out"
"You will lose your sex drive"
              "You'll creak every morning"
"Your eye brows will go wild"
Well, i can confirm that they were spot on, cos all them things have happened to me.

It's quite possible but I think it's worse than that! The waves from the oven must spread even further than originally thought :hate-shocked:. I have all those symptoms and don't have a microwave - but both neighbours have them . Can I sue them?

Actually Jack, the actual micro wave is about the diameter of a pencil. That is why the doors can have the screen with all those little holes to see through. The holes are too small for a micro wave to try to escape yet you can see very clearly what is happening to your dinner. :)

The pre delivery times given are quite ridiculous, with their ‘to the last minute timing’, but the reality is even worse.

I often have drivers standing talking to me at my door who cant give me the parcel because the allotted time had not been reached, eg it was too early.

but more peculiar than that I had another driver only a few days ago telling me that he could not deliver to the next house until he delivered to the one before it in order but they were not in.

It is nuts @weedaway - I have a friend who used to be a multi-drop driver and he left simply because of the impossible targets that they were working to. He said they were having to chuck lorries (not vans, but actual lorries) around like Tonka toys to try and get close to making all their deliveries, and more often than not working right up to the limits of the tachograph and still not managing to deliver everything. No wonder there are accidents and damaged parcels.

I have cleared out all the temp files, recycle bin, etc etc and my laptop is still sluggish. It seems to have happened after the last Windows 10 update! Is this my imagination or has anyone else got this issue?

And a small moan.. my winbot is acting up a little. I know. They aren't supposed to be good with little windows but it did a truly lousy job with mine.
