I like the occasional whisky myself especially some of the Islay ones with a good smokey flavour.
I also have a bottle that I bought about 20 years ago that was distilled in 1975 then aged for 21years. This was for a special occasion that has never happened. The special occasion has changed from time to time. However I shall probably open it when I retire in a few years; otherwise my brother will be drinking it at my funeral and that would be a waste.

On a programme the other day I was watching someone sold a bottle of Japanese whisky for a couple of hundred quid I think, can't remember how old it was but it was more than 20yrs I think.
But I presume it has to mature in the barrel?
Once bottled it just stays the same?

I have a bottle that is 50 years old but it is empty:heehee:

Good afternoon @pete And it isn't just because they're old, though age makes the whiskys taste better. The wood from the barrels a Scotch (or any whisky) is aged in tends to break down the rougher flavours in the alcohol, leaving you with a smoother taste. The longer the alcohol is in there, the smoother it gets:smile:

Gone are the days when bonfire night was actually on bonfire night and not for the whole week that it's in, all week there's been fireworks.

Good evening @wiseowl hope that penny is alright, one of our dogs used to be nervous with the sound of fireworks, used to put the radio on up high he used to hide in the corner out of the way.
Can get a CD with the sound of fireworks, put it on very low sound and when they get used to it turn it up a bit more, do it every day. The 2 that we got now don't bother much about it.

Wouldn't have Christmas lights up all the year.

There is a Homeopathic remedy called. Gelsemium. Obtainable from chemists and Holland & Barrat. It is fantastic for treating humans and animals alike. The pills are tastless and as wih homeopathic remedies, there is seldom any side affects. We used to give on pill 6 or 30C potency, This usually did the trick. For travelly , it cam also calm pets down. For humans. Panic, anger unwanted forms of excitement. This remedy will soon calm the individual down, without them realizing it.

I find it difficult to believe members of The House of Lords are "ordinary country folk".
