In fairness @pete, of those 39 million in England, 35 million have likely given up voting as there is nobody worth voting for, that will even it up a bit. As for Scotland, if SNP set the date, all will be well - they underestimate by years.

There would still be a half decent turn out at a general election regardless , some mostly just to get rid of those already there, its how it works, these days.
The red wall will go back red.

Sadly - I'd much rather see a new colour completely as they are all a shower in my opinion

Our MP was minister of state for education until all the shuffling around and did a good job. Some of you may have met him at our charity Open Garden without realising who he was.

He has told the Prime Minister Liz Truss that her performance so far has “trashed the last ten years of Conservatism”.

The comments were said to have been made at a meeting of the 1922 committee in the House of Commons.

If she has managed to trash that, then it is definitely bad - this has been the least conservative government going.

Not according to the pundits discussing it on TV. Labour would have such a massive landslide that the Tories would struggle to take more than the 59 seats the SNP have. The figures they were quoting on the indicated swing was 56/57 seats to the Tories. Highly unlikely I would have thought but the voters in England and Wales could see the SNP as the second largest party in Westminster.

Meanwhile in Russia, no doubt Putin and his cronies are exploiting the fact that we currently have the worst government setup in decades, possibly ever, to demonstrate that Britain counts for nothing as we're bogged down with our own massive internal problems.

Maybe we should thank Liz. Her complete ineptitude and insanity might make us not worth wasting a nuke on.

If Boris is not back by Monday we may as well give up and let the Unions destroy us
Every one in the UK would like 2% more than the cost of living
Pensioners would be happy with 2% more than the cost of living

I'm glad I'm not the only one that recognises this.

I'm all for a fair deal for everyone. But train drivers as an example get paid very well.

What some folks fail to take into account is that those on higher pay have usually invested a lot of time, energy and money, often while earning little or nothing, to build up an expensive skillset. You can't just walk out of school and ask for the same salary as someone that's spent 20 years or more building up specialist skills.

On a related point, a few months ago, the going rate for people with my skills was double what I earn. I could have literally resigned and been re employed elsewhere on double the salary within a week. I didn't. Why? Because I was able to recognise that it was unsustainable. I have a mortgage to pay and a family to feed. I don't want to go to a company that when the bubble burst, won't be able to afford to pay me. So I stayed put. Now the market is rapidly dropping off. With all costs rapidly rising, from energy, to materials, and even software, given that most software companies are American, and the exchange rate is deteriorating, and of course staffing, it all means companies are seeing smaller and smaller margins, with some already running down their reserves. Still, everyone now seems to want the CEO's salary. They should be careful what they wish for, because it won't be too long before we see this 'greedy' directors losing everything.

Shouldn't laugh but what else is there?!

In practice they can't call a general election (total wipe out) and they can't replace Truss. Everyone is stuck with her :(
