The other side of that coin is that reviews are extremely useful when you're trying to decide where to buy something or make comparisons on products. The more reviews there are, the more useful it becomes. If nobody leaves a review, we're all taking everything on trust and marketing....

The third side to the argument is 'can you trust reviews'? It has been shown that companies selling products pay for reviews. There was an exposure of a number of review companies that all they do is charge for good reviews to be posted. It's an industry in itself where those review companies employ people, working from home, to post reviews. :rolleyespink: It is becoming a large industry.

The recommended thing is that if you do read reviews then you should read the bad ones as a better guide. That will only work until the review selling companies start selling bad reviews to product companies to be put on the oppositions' sites. :hate-shocked:

One of my old bosses built a holiday let on the grounds of his house.
We knew nobody had had a chance to stay there but it was on the holiday companies list with two reviews.

We worked out he wrote one and his wife wrote the other one.
Apparently the place was marvellous. :roflol:

I booked a B Gas engineer for water dripping from the bottom of my boiler, BG sent a Dino-rod plumber out who told me he couldn't touch anything gas as he wasn't registered.
Hopefully a BG engineer will call on Friday.
BG website won't let me change my landline number to my mobile number.
            I am not happy:mad:

Tell them you're getting rid of your landline phone, they'll soon except your mobile number.

Why are dramas made for television always so dark in sections? I can understand films being so, as they are originally watched in a dark environment but TV dramas are made to watch on TV. I watched an episode of one such drama this morning and half of it was like listening to the radio. Not everyone has a 75" TV in a custom-made viewing room. And another thing. Why do they keep expecting you to read text messages on the actor's phones? With my TV and viewing distance, it is like trying to read my own phone from the other side of the room. It is not necessary. I watched one film where the text messages were shown at the side of the screen like red subtitles. A far better option.

Half the time I cant hear what anyone is saying on the TV, now I know my hearing is not great, but I can hear all programmes that are in studios without any problems.
                    Also old films.

But in most modern films and dramas they seem to think just mumbling is good enough, and when they whisper, they actually do for god sake.

People who think they're cleverly being discrete about using their mobile phones while driving, by putting it their lap so you can't see the phone through their windows.

They do it all the time. I see it regularly while standing out the front having a smoke. Alright, they've achieved their objectives. I can't see the phone through their windows. But I CAN see their head bowed as though they're looking at their crotch instead of the road, and I can hear the mess they often make of the gear change, or the engine revving too hire, as they fail/forget to change up as they come out of the sharp corner.

I was driving on the M8 one evening when a chap came up behind me talking on his phone. So I slowed down, and he slowed down. Then I slowed down, and he slowed down. Eventually, I got down to 20 mph with him still sitting behind me on his phone. Finally, his phone call finished and he realised what he was doing and overtook me. I hope I got my message across.
Personally, I think cars should be required to be fitted with a device that blocks mobile phone signals. Even talking hands-free is a dangerous distraction.

Yesterday I was listening on the radio to one of the oil companies' execs saying they have made a good profit and are quite prepared to pay windfall tax. I don't remember which company it was.

I don't watch any of the modern films or dramas but do have an intense dislike of unnecessary background music in programmes - even the news. As an example:- Mrs S was watching 'Antiques Roadshow' the other day and all the time the auctions were going on there was background music. Admittedly it was soft but why have it? Other programmes have louder or softer music in the background - including the news!
