This confirms what I thought ... some of the women I visited when I was a social worker were absolutely filthy and their houses were stinking.

I can't say the women at my last work place were like that, far from it they were all very professional, well dressed and normal personalities. God knows who were the messy ones and why.

I totally agree except for the 'normal personality' bit. They needed to be rather unusual to work for me :heehee:.

As for peeing outside - when I work in the garden and need one then the compost heap gets the benefit. :blue thumb: We're not overlooked unless someone is using binoculars from the houses a mile away across the field. :rolleyespink:

A quick chat with our cleaners would confirm that, as would some of the emails from the estates manager regarding the state the toilets are left in.

I said 'some' of the women, not all of them.
What I'm trying to say is that lots of women I encounter make out that they are all clean and tidy whereas men are not, but that is not true. In my many years of experience dealing with people it's 50/50
You obviously didn't work with some of the women I've worked with @JWK :yikes: and you couldn't have been a social worker

I work in Switzerland a lot. It was a massive (and welcome) surprise how clean they keep their toilets - public and offices. It is completely normal to hear a toilet brush scratching the pan before someone comes out to wash their hands. Which means that toilets are routinely clean in a way that they routinely are not in the UK. Basic decency would suggest that leaving a toilet clean after you’ve used should be normal - and in Switzerland it is!

              How totally civilised

I couldn't have done that job Michael. I have worked in factories though, when we actually made stuff in the UK, one shop floor was almost exclusively women and as a young man it was quite an experience to venture in, the language and non PC comments were terrible. Like builders wolf whistling at women only the other way round and 10 times worse. Things were like that in those days though. Happy memories ;)

All this surprises me. I worked for major companies like Rank Xerox and Hozelock and never encountered dirty toilets (be it the toilet itself or room). I would have complained loud and clear!

No have to admit I've never come across dirty toilets in any of my workplaces either, or in fact any of the toilets in establishments that I frequent.....I would definitely complain and never return!! Have to admit I will never visit a public toilet that's not directly linked to a restaurant/ coffee shop....they can be disgusting. I'd rather buy a coffee just to use the facilities. To be honest I'm pretty good at holding on!!;)

@Loofah no I can't say I have....but that doesn't mean that disgusting people or facilities have to be
tolerated as the the' norm' in such environments !!

Sorry I wouldn't except any excuses at all. Report, report!!:dbgrtmb:

I tend to think the class system (for want of a different way of putting it),has something to do with.
I've not spent much time in ladies toilets but regarding men's, they vary depending on where you are, what kind of building and of course the kind of person using them.

A building site toilet in the 70s was a basic plywood shed with a bucket in it which only got emptied when full.

Public toilets vary greatly depending mostly on how often they get cleaned and the age of the place.
I find in general they are much cleaner these days than they used to be.

My last workplace was the major uk electric utility HQ, people did complain but what could the building facilities dept do?, same as Nigel said they would send photos of the disgusting mess in an attempt to shame the culprits, it didn't work. Prior to that I was at Hewlett Packard's HQ with 3,000 staff. They had very posh buildings but it only takes one or two people and they never own up.

I worked at the same place from 1970 until 2006.
During that period the toilet facilities actually went downhill, and its was really down to attitudes of those that used it, even the cleaning contractors refused to clean it anymore.
The company wouldn't repair anything either, it was really bad, some of the poetry on the walls was worth a read though, it took your mind off the place while you was using it.
It was used by up to 50 of us, but staff members had their own toilets in the main office building.
