Kitchen roll soaked in ice cold water and then on to the lavender oil. A friend who worked in a health shop put us onto that one years ago and it never fails when it comes to burns.

No sauce as it ended up in my slipper and all over the carpet... so not the best Chinese sadly.

I use essential oils for various health things too.

I once pulled a muscle in my bum during my martial arts class. Someone lent me some deep heat so I hobbled off to the toilets to spray it on. Big mistake. Now I had the pain of a pulled muscle AND the pain of deep heat burning. I had to drive home like it too. Sitting on a pulled muscle that is also burning is not fun. Got home, washed the deep heat off, and turned to my old favourite for pulled muscles, Rosemary oil. Another big mistake. Although I'd used it many times before, I'd never put it on my butt cheek. I just assumed all skin is the same. I guess not. If the deep heat burned, this was another level. Like my bum was on fire. So back to the bathroom to wash it off. Except oil doesn't easily wash off. The burning continued.

In the end I turned to another herbal remedy. A much more general purpose one. I drank beer. I found after about 4 large bottles the pain subsided.

Once, at work, my boss got a fresh coffee from the machine and promptly dropped it on my ankle. There was a big galvanised sink beside us so I stuck my foot in there and ran cold water on it. The first aider told me to keep doing that and sent for the Occupational nurse. As luck would have it she worked for many years in a local burns unit. She tended to it every day. She removed the blister (that is when she told me she knew what she was doing due to her burns unit experience). After about a week she said that in retrospect it possibly would have qualified for a skin graft but it healed up beautifully and now, almost 40 years later, there is no evidence at all as to the scald.
And all from a coffee from a vending machine.

            Some years back
Vitamin E oil is what a some burns hospitals around the world use. It is supposed to help the scars to heal. :blue thumb:

Of course you could have sued the company, as it happened at work, and would have likely received compensation from their insurance company. Not as much as Liebeck v MaDonald's in the U.S. She was awarded $2.9 million which, on appeal, was reduced to $640k. She had only asked for $20k as she had high medical bills for it but they only offered $800. The award ended up being for punitive damages. There had already been over 700 cases reported for their coffee being produced dangerously hot.

Coffee machines usually dispense coffee at a temperature higher than necessary. :noidea:

I was a works first aider for years and hot drink spills were one of the most common accidents. It's surprising how long you need to keep the injury under cold running water, at least 20 minutes. At one company the management banned people carrying drinks on stairs as often people tripped especially with a tray full of steaming tea! Eventually everyone had to carry hot drinks in a cup with a spill proof lid.

I was under the running cold water for about 40 minutes before the Occupational nurse arrived, which probably mitigated the damage. And yes @Fat Controller it was very painful. Couldn't put a boot on for about a week.

I was impressed with the Iran team though - they refused to sing their anthem in protest against the government. Hope they still have families to return to!
