Just got our Gas Bill (gas only, for heating and hot water) and compared to the same period last year it amounts to a 122% increase in price. Here are two OAPs that will have to dig more fleeces and jumpers out of the wardrobe.

How does that fit with the £66 discount, I guess you are paying more but is it significantly more.
My last two bills have been lower or only slightly above what I normally pay.
Of course I realise that will get worse as it gets colder.

My £66 discount has come off my electricity bill and the gas bill is the full amount.

I have electric and gas with the same company so mine just comes off the one bill.
You could say £33 off of each.

Both my bills are with British Gas but they put it all to my electricity pre-paid meter.

Just seen this on the news:

Ngozi Fulani, a charity founder, was questioned about her background at the charity event at the palace on Tuesday.

Ms Fulani, said she was "totally stunned" by Prince William's godmother's comments.

The palace described the comments as "unacceptable and deeply regrettable".

I must be way out of touch - why is asking somebody about their heritage considered racist? Should I take offence if someone asks me about my family history?

              I just don't get it...

I listened to the interview about it. The questioning went far beyond a simple enquiry.

I read the article on the BBC and it was persistent questioning, not just a casual where are you from, there is a transcription, as recounted by Ms Fulani, here Lady Susan Hussey quits over remarks to charity boss Ngozi Fulani at the bottom

Surely once she had said she was born in Britain she only had to add where her parents came from, its not offensive its just asking, she should be proud of her heritage, not want to hide it.
Would there have been a similar outcry if she had Eastern European name and someone enquired about their ancestry, I doubt it.

Why must we pussy foot around certain people for fear of offending them.

I'd be really happy if someone took enough interest in me to ask where I came from.
