I don't suppose it occurred to you he may be suffering from dementia Clanless and not being deliberate in holding up the checkout.

I popped over to Wales today and decided to do some shopping. I took my usual lengthy time at the checkout (my old bones don't work very well) and for some reason the man behind me seemed to be getting irate! :dunno:

Last time (January) I tried to talk to a GP I was told to use the econsult service and a doctor would contact me within 24hrs. First thing was a message saying that due to Covid, demand etc it would be 48 to 72hrs response. It worked though I ended up seeing a GP later that week.
Due to continuing deterioration in health I thought do the same again, nope they'd got wise to that and this week the online consultations are temporarily unavailable until tomorrow; this since Monday.

The doc's near here seem to be having lots of time off or they're working from home but they seem to go away for long weeks/weekeads away

re checkouts: I have been there and overheard the following. Cashier "How are you paying?" Customer "Card please" Inserts card and pauses "Now what's my PIN", hunts through wallet looking for number, checks phone, asks husband "Can you remember my PIN" rings someone on the phone, they don't know PIN either, proceeds to give directions to where PIN can be found, pin located read to customer who then slowly and methodically recites it as they enter PIN.
Meanwhile cashier and queue are exchanging looks and shrugs.

Good afternoon yesterday I got the car tax online £180 for the year this morning the reminder came it stated the cost was £170 a £10 difference I then decided to ring DVLA Swansea to ask why after 56 options and a little wait I was told that the reminder was printed a while ago and the Budget is responsible for the £10 rise;)

The prices of timber from B&Q are 'interesting'. They want £32 for a 2.4 m high 100 mm fence post - and you have to go and get it from the store. My local builders merchant want £15.67 for the same and this price includes for delivery tomorrow.

I suppose we're lucky to have a builders merchant just down the road - but come on B&Q - are you taking the mickey?

How can a builders merchant with 2 branches obtain timber for half the price of the massive B&Q?

Is there a smattering of blatant profiteering going on here?

Boris announces 8 new nuclear power stations are to be built to get us away from relying on foreigners for power, they will probably get built by the French with Chinese money. :roflol:
Starmer says it's all too late, this should have been started 10 or 12years ago, not 13 or 14years ago, I wonder why not. :roflol:

But I think he did at least get through a whole interview without mentioning a windfall tax on energy companies, which apparently would solve everything.:wallbanging:

If you want ironmongery or plumbing stuff it's sometimes cheaper to buy a multi pack from screwfix than buying one from B&Q, so buy 5 and throw 4 away.:biggrin:

£14.49 at our local fencing place but it doesn't say anything about delivery.

Yes they are, they have shareholders to please.

I posted a few weeks ago about someone I know purchasing 10 x 1.8m machined round posts from B&Q, he paid £120. I told him to take them back and I would do them considerably cheaper, he didn't. We were both Parked within 20 metres of B&Q entrance and he couldn't be bothered to take them back and do a 30 mile round trip to my yard to save £80, he would of actually saved £90 as they were only 40mm diameter posts.

So B&Q charge £12 each were I charge £3.15 each or £29.50 for 10 posts. I also sell in full pallets which brings down the cost even more. I am paying 95p for a 1.8m x 40mm round post, just goes to show the markup some of these retailers are working on.

B&Q and Screwfix are Subsidiaries of the Kingfisher group, sometimes it might be cheaper to buy a 3 or 5 pack of certain things from Screwfix, not always though. They sell 2.4m x 100mm square timber posts in packs of 3 @ £122 that is delivered, so £40.66 each, still way over the top in my opinion.
