French civil servants. Dear God. They have special training in order to reach the mind-blowing level of incompetence and bloody-mindedness inflicted on the general public here. Not once, not one single occasion in 15 years, has a French government employee accomplished the requested task correctly and efficiently. Apart from the bin-men. They're wonderful

Just listening to these suggestions to regarding easing the cost of living.
One is not getting an MOT yearly.

How much is that going to save?
Unless of course you're driving a death trap and then it could be a massive saving.

Just heard that Boris has been decrying working from home as inefficient and not on. Hang on: this chap works in No 10 Downing Street; lives and parties at No 10 Downing Street. One rule for the PM and mates and one for everybody else again.

Having been trying to persuade my GP to refer me to a consultant since January; I succeeded a couple of weeks ago when the GP admitted I should have been referred in March after a trigger point was reached on one test, however nobody had flagged this to a GP and they are weeks behind reviewing results (Covid).
Yesterday speaking to the hospital outpatient appointments line I learnt that I'm on a waiting list to be sent an appointment date and should receive an appointment date in the first half of June. Also it will be a phone consultation.

I feel for you @NigelJ , I had so many telephone hospital apps, last year....even some were changed from person to person ones!
I kept getting blood test results that showed I had very low immunity levels and was referred to an Immunoligiist ...did I ever actually see him in person...nope! My last phone app. with him was in November and he concluded that I was probably born with it!!
I've have 10 lots of surgery, babies, countless blood tests........all of which had never picked up on this before! Hmmm ...beggars belief!

Even our GP is still preferring phone consultations. I had to see one a couple of weeks ago and was told it woukd be via telephone, I got a bit 'shirty' with them and said no way!! I actually needed a Doctor to see me and 'hands on' examine me.....she still grumbled but reluctantly gave me a proper appointment.

It's very concerning of what could be getting missed! Covid can't keep being used as a scapegoat for not actually seeing patients in person......can it?? :noidea:

Wishing you well Nigel, hope it all gets sorted very soon for you.

I went to pick up a prescription at my doctor's surgery yesterday and I can't make out why the carpark is always so full.
When you get inside there is about 4 people in there, I can only think it must be staff.

As to the waiting room in BC (before covid), the place would be full, now AC, (after covid), its still almost the same as DC,(during covid), I don't think it should go back to how it was, too many people going there with very minor problems, but on the other hand what are they still missing.

I think they have got used to just answering the phone most of the time and don't really want to get back to the old way of doing it.

We are used to waiting a long time to see a specialist but I have had no problem getting in to see my GP. Although I do try to make appointments as early as possible for routine things like my shot in the belly every six months. I've made that appointment for June already.

We still have a problem with people going to the emergency with something that a clinic could have easily handled and the emergency never stopped backing up during covid. And they do not have a proper triage. They say the do but they don't. I kept track of the people in the line up to go in and then in the waiting room and no matter what the problem, they went in as though it was in order of first come, first serve. And most of them left with a prescription in hand while the person I was sitting with got admitted after 7 hours of waiting. Some triage!

Just had brunch with friends; his father had had some issue or other and eventually got to see the surgeon. All signed off and booked in then a week before surgery, the surgeon in his early 50s dropped dead! Anyway, the father being in some great agony by then went to an osteopath and two sessions is all it took to correct whatever the problem was. Better than going under the knife but it makes me wonder about all the processes and people involved

I can't understand how that can happen.
I was 2 yrs of being fobbed off with one physio after the other before even getting anywhere near seeing a surgeon.
Don't even bother mentioning the witches of the bunch, Hubble bubble toil and trouble, chiropractors.
I've recently seen an osteopath for 6 costly sessions and he told me to give it up.

It depends on what is wrong with you and how good the practitioner is. :noidea:

Mrs Shiney ordered some plug plants 'million bells' for the hanging baskets. A lot were damaged and although the picture showed a variety of colours they were all pale pink (wishy washy colour). That was after she had already chased them up for them because they hadn't sent them out by the time they said they would arrive. They said they would replace the damaged ones.

In the meantime, we went to a local plant sale and bought some twice the size, a variety of colours and half the price. Will we buy from them again?
