Everyone experiences covid differently. Yes, it is rude saying it is just a cold when everyone knows how many got hospitalized. There are dunces everywhere.

But luckily that is exactly what people I know told me it felt like. Just a nasty cold.

Okay, now I'm curious. I have no idea what my computer has under the hood... let me look

        Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz
        8.00 GB (7.70 GB usable)

        I've only got windows 10 21H2 version - whatever that means..:noidea:

Exactly. That's what I find so infuriating. It's different for everyone, but the most vocal about it dismiss it as just a cold, either because they've not had it yet, or they had it but were among the lucky ones that had it very mild. So despite representing 1 in a population of over 7 billion people worldwide, they decide that their personal experience is representative.

My missus had it just before me. She was one of the lucky ones. She had very mild cold like symptoms for a couple of days. We only know she had it because she developed a fever so did a test. I got it next and it did me in for two weeks. A lady at work used to say it was just a cold. Then she got it. This was five weeks ago and although she's back at work she's still not 100%. She no longer says it's just a cold.

              Good idea.

We had a local PC repair business here some years ago and I took my ailing laptop there. Bless the lads, they dug out every bit of hardware, tested every software twist they could think of, spent days on it and in the end told me that they just couldnt work out what was going on and most apologetically recommended to buy a new laptop. It would be cheaper than buying the replaceable parts into my old one.

They refused to take payment as in their eyes they had failed. I forced a £20 tip on them and never told them that the root cause of the odd behaviour was a glass of red wine I tipped over the laptop.

Anyways, these companies are there just for this kind of situations, ferry your machine over and explain what you want and what you are willing to pay.

              Good luck!

Passport Renewal. Last week I did the on-line Passport Renewal, very easy. We did the photo ourselves, submitted it and it was in the top section of acceptable. Sent old Passport in post and received acknowledgement yesterday.

I have now just received an e-mail stating the picture is not acceptable as the background is not light enough!!! I am sitting against a white wall. We shall redo it again tomorrow and the only thing we can think of is use a flash this time. Bureaucracy !!! :wallbanging:

I didn't like the other photo anyway.

Flash is likely to make the wall look darker. Wear something black. That will confuse the exposure meter and it will lighten the entire image.

Can you adjust the brightness of the photo on the computer?

Do they accept digitally altered photos, you could photoshop it to oblivion if they do.;)

On examination again, there is a slight shadow from my chin. :rolleyespink: But my complaint is, why was it accepted in the first place ... to a high standard? There is a pie crust and my acceptance was at 11 o'clock and prime acceptance is in 10-12 o'clock.

                      General election before Christmas?
What a couple of idiots left in the running, one of which will be imposed upon us.

In fact the whole bunch that threw their name in the hat were diabolical, the clever ones kept out the way, but not sure who they are.
Boris this is all your fault, if you had been sensible this would never have happened.

I said this would happen. No sooner will somebody new be elected then they'll try to remove them also. Anybody would think they were football managers.

You can't blame Boris for this. Many politicians wanted him out as well as the general public, so he did the right thing and resigned. Seems he can't do right whatever decision he makes.
