That's how these big corporations want to maximise their profits, less for more. I posted not long after I first joined that I used to make compost for miracle gro and had done successfully for a number of years. We stopped packing for them after the European main man came to meet us, he informed us that it was his job to increase the companies profits by 10% annually. There vision of achieving this, was by doing less for more, we never produced one more bag for them. Those at the bottom of the chain get less so those at the top get more.

The UK does not have much gas storage capacity, we only have storage to last a few days in the winter months, not even a week.

There was a piece in the daily telegraph in 2020 from former Ofgem boss Dermot Nolan.
He predicted that millions of people would be stung with higher electricity costs for a decade to meet the governments target of banning combustion vehicles. He cited that the budget set aside from the government was inadequate. Also in January 2020 the ban was due to come into force in 2040. It was announced in Feb it was being moved forward to 2035, then to 2030 prior to cop26. In the space of 10 months clown Bo jo brought forward the ban by 10 years while countries were still in a grip of lockdown, idiot.

I don't think that this complies with the relevant safety procedures - I could be wrong -

Two Air-France pilots have been suspended after a physical altercation in the cockpit, reports say. The pilot and co-pilot exchanged blows as they flew an Airbus A320 from Geneva to Paris in June.

The CO detector started beeping around 5am as they do, it was a low battery warning. The instructions say to replace the whole unit as this one is over 10 years old. I need to replace all the wired smoke detectors too, they went in at the same time. I just checked the price of these things, like everything they have shot up.

What a coincidence. We've just come home to our smoke alarm kicking off. I made my family wait outside while I did a full check of the house before concluding it's malfunctioning.

Enforced by the Scottish government early this year we had to change our smoke alarms to wireless inter-connected ones so if one triggers they all do. We bought a complete kit on the internet that consists of smoke alarms (the amount of our choice) and a heat alarm for the kitchen. There is a remote control for resetting should they trigger. An independent carbon monoxide monitor was in the package too. At the time it all cost just under £200.

The alarms have batteries which can't be replaced (sealed units) and are expected to and guaranteed to last the lifetime of the system. The system has to be replaced at ten years old. We have no need for the carbon monoxide monitor inside so have mounted it in our integral garage where the boiler is.

Our ordinary independent smoke alarms were all that was needed as we could hear any one of them anywhere in our bungalow. Such a waste to have to change them. The new ones are deafening and if left too long would probably damage hearing.

Thanks @Sheal who did you buy them from please ? I have 4 wired smoke detectors plus the CO alarm, I have seen them sold separately but if I could buy them as a package I assume it would be cheaper.

Just out of interest, what were they going to do to you if you didn't install them?

Would we need to make appointments to see you in jail?

Nicola Sturgeon goes in person to visit offenders. Apparently the scheme has been 100% successful ...
