If the cottage is 200 years old it's unlikely to have a cavity wall, unless one has been built during the creation of the extension.

It is also a flat roof, so if it's not completely sealed, hopefully with ventilation, that will create further problems. Personally, I wouldn't have given the cladding house room (excuse the pun), it completely spoils the look of the cottage and is likely to be a disaster long term.

Edit: Probably done cheaply to lighten the load on the pocket.

 

Rendering the wall and painting would have been better on the Eye.

 

Today I ordered Ink for my printer, cost just under £30.00, but from the same company I could have had a new printer with Ink, same model for £32.
This world has gone mad

 

Which is why I manage to get by without a printer now, I found because it wasn't in constant use and burning through the ink it just ceased up.

 

Anyone seen the VW Towrag ad?
It shows this large wide truck taking up a parking space and everyone else struggling to get into their cars parked next to it, then the Towrag owner comes out all smug and drives the bloody thing by remote control so he can get in it without a struggle.
Typical of a certain countries attitude to everyone else, sums it up well.

 

If you go for walks in the countryside, please make sure gates are the same as you find them more so the road gates, ie don't leeve them open if they were shut, Luckly a noisey/keen eyed neighbour (Me) stopped some cattle from getting out onto a road

 

This 20 mph speed limit. Today pulled into the side of the road 2 times - to let drivers through - who were driving dangerously close.

Apparently the speed limit does not apply to motor cycles - one young man whizzed past me doing about 40 and then took a sharp right turn without checking over his shoulder. They pound into you during motorcycle training to check over your shoulder before turning - it's not called the 'life saver' check for nothing. I predict that this young man will either lose his licence or end up in the nearest casualty department.

I should also imagine that quite a lot of people will soon be attending speed awareness courses.

I don't like or agree with the 20 mph limit - but no matter how bonkers I think it is - it is the law I'm afraid and I'm going to comply with it.

 

Just received the new years car insurance quote up by 70% on last year !

Done some price comparison sites and the best we can find is surprisingly one of the biggest insurers Aviva, just up by 30%.

Anyone use them ? seems they only offer a complete online deal, even any claims you have to do it all online apparently ? 'Which' state they have 3 different policies, the Zero & Plus, both online and a Standard but able to find out what the Standard is ?

Also tried Direct Line who do not show up on the comparison sites and they wanted a premium up by a whopping 250% ! and thats with our many years of no claims etc.

 

Insurance quotes seem to vary wildly, I'm not sure how they manage to come up with some of this, I assume if they dont like your name they dont want your business, I've had some really wild quotes in the past.

I can never understand why their quotes only last a few days at the most, its not like you have changed anything but the quotes change from day to day almost.

Aviva is a well known company and I think lots of them are now doing online business only, if you call them and change something they hit you with a bill, do it online and its usually free.

 

I got a good deal from 'Flow' this year but my renewal isn't due until next Spring, so don't know yet what the change will be.
