Down here quite a number of operations are done by private clinics on behalf of the NHS, I recently had a cataract operation at a contracted clinic and my neighbour had his hernia done last year under a similar arrangement; they also do hip and knee replacements as long as they are straight forward.

I know lots of people wouldn't agree, but I dont know why the NHS doesn't farm all it everyday surgery to specialist private units and just concentrate on doing the more difficult jobs in house.
It would make a lot more sense and get down the waiting lists faster.

In these days I think the NHS just cant cope with the numbers.

If they stopped doing pointless jobs and stuck to surgically required procedures they might have a chance. Require people to be resident for 5 years before accessing the NHS.
One thing they could easily improve is the checking out of patients

If you required people to be resident for 5 yrs, half the people who work there would be excluded from treatment.
It dose appear to need sorting out as they seem to waste a lot.

Checking out patients appears to be a care problem to stop bed blocking.

It does not look good enough. Were you hungry enough to eat them? I've now got a craving for some, but alas, I haven't any. Cream crackers and cheese again instead, I suppose.

I've got a second pack, if I get bored I might tip them out and do a head count.

That's exactly why I avoid 'mixed nut' packs. IME they're full of hard, dry, bitter hazelnuts with just a few almonds, brazils or macadamias. Complete scam. Now all the nut trees here are producing, I can make my own mix :wub2: Just need a foolproof way of cooking and shelling chestnuts...:wallbanging:

Back in the days of old we had a coal/woodburning stove that had a vent running across the top of it about two foot in length and three inches wide. It was perfect for laying chestnuts on to cook - having scored a cross on the top and bottom with a sharp knife. When the shell opened they were ready to eat.
