See that less prominent figure, latency, in your case perfectly fine at 7ms? Well for normal websites like GC, that's the more important figure.

GC and similar websites would work perfectly fine even with a measly 1 Mbps download speed. But the latency figure is the length of time between your side sending a request to the server and starting to receive a response back from it. 7 ms is perfectly good. If it starts getting into double digits then it's more of an issue. You see, forums often aren't simply a case of one request, one response. Loadings a page on here will send one request for the page itself, then a separate request for the stylesheet, and a separate request for each and every graphics. So a latency even at say 30 ms would add up to present as a slow page load, even if your download the was super fast.

That's all academic in your case though as 7ms is perfectly respects. I'm just highlighting that it's not just the big number that matters when diagnosing slow page loads.

I have found the site very slow this morning. I looked at something different while I was waiting for it to 'open' or whatever the word is when it appears on the screen

 

I think the site almost stopped for me a few minutes ago.

 

I've noticed it being a bit hit and miss in the last day or two as well.

 

Well my internet speed in a mouth dropping 2msp

Pages here are very slow to open/change some times a minute or two

 

I think I'd start to get a bit twitchy if it was consistently over about 30.

 

Bit slow here as well but I seem to have had one of those weeks with lots of little accidents, hiccups and frustrations

 

Every morning on the news programmes I hear that doctors are all leaving, teachers are all leaving, nurses are all leaving , does anyone know where they are all going.

 

Not here as supposedly we have the same problem!

 

If I had my time as a doctor again, I would probably go to Australia, they look after their doctors a lot better there. Maybe I would not have ended up having a total meltdown.

 

But I presume these supposedly hoards of people are not all leaving the country.
I just wonder what other jobs they are all going into.
Or is it mostly media hype.

It is a wonder any teacher continues here as they have to re-apply for their job every year! Then they are not guaranteed the same location, although most get it. Our friend gave up and joined the Admin team instead which was permanent and stayed at the same location.
