Leaving their respective industries perhaps? Some might be retiring, some might be going into alternative careers.

Well yeah I realise that its just that every day we are told they are all leaving.

I mean you could say the same thing about construction or farming or road workers, all jobs have those leaving and those joining, but its as if in certain jobs nobody is expected to leave.
I doubt anyone in the country would classify them selves as over paid.

Well Nurses here in FIFE sort of do not actually leave
The average wage for a Staff Nurse NHS is £30k py
They leave and join an agency who pay them £40k py
Then the agency employs them back to the hospital they have left at £50k py
Some nurses I know are back on the same wards and the same shifts as they had quit the month before :-)

I knew someone who did that @Jack McHammocklashing - basically did a few shifts a month as an agency nurse, because it suited her to do that, and earned more than my then husband did - he was a surveyor.

A family member is a consultant, he now spends most of his time writing reports for insurance purposes as an expert witness. The money he gets for that is eye watering. Incentives are all cock-eyed.

Insurance companies, when you start to drill down, re vet, teeth, health insurance, I don't think they do any favours to those of us who're just can't afford or get such insurance.

For the most part, insurance is just a legal form of theft.

Take car insurance as an example. How many here have really scrutinised their policy documents? I don't mean the cover summary, I mean the legal stuff? I think unless you can get a solicitor and a mechanic in a meeting room to discuss your document, your requirements, and your specific car, there's going to be clauses in that document that really don't work for you, that are there for one of two reasons, either to justify increasing the policy price, or to reduce the likelihood of having to pay out.

As an example, I once took the time to read a policy document properly. I didn't understand most of it because it was so persnickety legal. But I did notice that apparently my caravan would also be cover by the policy as long as it was being towed by the insured vehicle. Great. That's a nice bonus. Good job they thought of it. I didn't think to insure my caravan, largely on account of the fact I've never owned one. This clause was in the same policy document that stated in writing that I'd declared that the vehicle had not been modified in any way. That would mean it didn't have a towbar for a start, but also that it's feeble 1.3 litre engine delivery about 50 hp meant it was never going to be a tow car. Indeed, it could barely tow itself.

I phoned the insurance company and discussed this with them. They tried to argue at first but I kind of defeated them on the point that the car would be uninsured anyway if I used it to tow a caravan in that it would have to have an undeclared modification to do so.

Bldddy parakeets driving me up the wall. Horrible noisy beady eyed things. They've also worked out how to circumvent the squirrel proof feeder. Two legged JKW

At least slugs and snails and squirrels and aphids are reasonably quiet. Even foxes aren't noisy all the time.

Dam people on bikes ! If they're going to use the road like motorists they should pass a test like motorists too.
Yesterday I was in a town and indicated I was going to turn left, but a cyclist who was behind me came right up on my left side so I couldn't turn in case I knocked him over.
Then he turned left in the same place I was going to turn, so I turned also.
Then he stopped and shouted at me that I had indicated too early.
How can you indicate too early ? I like to give plenty of notice when I'm turning left or right. Most people seem to indicate as they're turning and that's too late.

And saying I'd indicated too early didn't make sense, he had no right to come up along my left side anyway, he should have stayed behind me, especially since I'd indicated left.

And they should ride in a single file, not in groups talking to each other.
And they should keep to the speed limit.

I'm not against people using bikes, but honestly most of the ones I see are not fit to be on the road.
