The GMC's job is to regulate doctors, it does not have a role in setting guidelines for conditions, but yes Moseley did a very good job. He qualified as a dr. but never worked as one.

Dr Moseley, once qualified, elected to go into medical journalism and from there used his programmes for the Beeb as a platform for promoting public health. As we all know, far too many people have little or no access to their own GP, let alone specialists who can give them sensible, clear advice in everyday English.

Michael Moseley was a great communicator and of inestimable value to all the people who only knew to change their diet or check their symptoms because he discussed such things openly and without condescension.

I think everyone agrees with that, @Obelix-Vendée, I was taking issue with the GMC stuff, which was false.

Apologies @Punkdoc. It sounded like you were saying he was less of a doctor for not having practised directly with patients.

As for the GMC - I thought it had more influence on how doctors behave and perform their duties.

Wish me luck. One of my ancient teeth decided to break off below the gum the other day. I have an 8.15 am appointment to have it extracted by my local dentist. He says that he might have to “dig around a bit’. I’m on blood thinners. It should be interesting….

Update: All done and dusted. It was a bit of an arm wrestling match for him but he finally got the old beggar out. Asked me if I wanted to keep it. Eh????? Good riddance. Gave me a leaflet telling me what to do next - “avoid cycling and exercise” I always do and always have done.

I had a hospital appointment on Monday afternoon, I thought it was early enough to miss the kids coming out of school and causing chaos on the roads, as they do.
Any way it was 2.15 and they were all over the place so how long do they spend at school these days.

I (and I'm sure many of you) grew up with only three TV channels, and they didn't broadcast all day and night. We didn't even have a TV until I was 4 years old. C4 appeared at some point during my teenage years I think. No Sky TV (or even no TV at all) is hardly deprivation.

Good outcome there, @Tidemark. :blue thumb: One of mine has broken off at the gum line. It's not bothering me so I've opted to leave it in situ.

@pete, school timetables go out the window during exams, so that could be why they were out early.

A minor moan. Buy item on ebay. Seller out of stock. Refunds. No probs. Ebay then nags me to leave feedback. I go to do it. Seller communicated and I got my money back quickly, so I'm happy to leave a positive. However, ebay will not let me leave the feedback till I have given stars for dispatch time and item description. Eh? It wasn't dispatched and I have never laid eyes on it. I resent being nagged for feedback and then prevented from submitting it! :th scifD36:

I took out an insurance recently, about a week later they started hassling me for feedback.
Waiting until I need to make a claim before I do that

What kind of shite does a cyber attack on hospitals?
Not a huge deal for me but my blood test has had to be cancelled. Fortunately I'm able to access the one I had done a few months ago for my GP so the hospital will be able to make do with that. It must be so much worse for other people .
