I went to the...Garden Centre...earlier. It should call itself a department store. Had to get through enormous amount of foodstuffs, toys, shoes (not of a gardening type) clothes (ditto) books (ditto) to the very much reduced gardening department at the very far end. It took a while to find packets of seeds and they only had Mr Fothergills. The vast majority of gardening space was taken up by higher end accoutrements. All the bags of compost were stacked outside. In future I shall go to ESK..locally owned, bit like b&m.

There is a garden centre around here that is not that bad for clutter but it has loads of compost all stacked in the car park, but you have to walk miles from the carpark to get to the exit and tills.
I've never bought any compost there because by the time you get to the till you will have forgotten which one you wanted and I'm definitely not going to drag a trolley loaded up with compost all that way round the place.

With the nursery I go to I just tell them what compost I want and they bring it to the car and load it for me. :dbgrtmb:

Elon Musk and his neural implant work has just been mentioned again. If he is so confident about it's safety and effectiveness why didn't he volunteer to be the first guinea pig?

Dartford crossing charges, grrrr. I have a prepay account so I don't have to worry about fines, it has worked OK for years but since covid we don't cross so regularly. I crossed on Monday and thought I had better check in case I need to top up. I still have £9.96 in credit but it didn't show my crossing, it's ANPR so maybe it had missed my car. After going round in circles online then on the helpline I was told my
£9.96 had expired!. Asked how can money expire, they said I need to top up every 12 months otherwise they don't take it from my balance and will issue a fine!

I've paid it separately but was told I have forfeited my balance, it is taken by National Highways Agency as they are not allowed to refund. Martin Lewis says over a £million has been grabbed from unsuspecting motorists.

Yesterday I trod in some Dog Poo left outside my gate, I was not happy having to clean the hallway carpet and my trainers. All cleaned now outside with Jeyes Fluid.

Believe me I could have used much stronger language in this post:whistle:

I love all animals and have had Cats for the past 40 years. I feed a Fox, stray Cats & the Birds.
These Dog owners who let their animal do these disgusting things are not proper animal lovers, just lazy B******s.

The Dartford crossing is one of the biggest scandals of all time, the charge was always said to be stopped once the building of the bridge had been paid for, ( the tunnels were paid for years ago), and its been paid for over and over again, unyet they are still allowed to charge people just to get though the most congested part of the M25.

Still on roads, at my end of town there are two main roads out of the town in chaos, they recently totally closed one going south, for over a month, leaving a really long diversion and HGVs that are trying to avoid it going down a near single track country lane.

At the same time they have decided to put 3 way tempory traffic lights on the main road that leads to the M20.

I just wonder if its worth trying to drive anywhere these days, I wouldn't mind if they were mending potholes but they aint.

There are too many cars - the roads are disintegrating. Government want the road tax, but they don't want to spend it on the upkeep of roads. So what they've decided to do is to price plebs off the road and increase costs to the wealthier drivers. Same income, fewer cars so less road damage and less maintenance. That's not what we are told though - fewer more expensive electric cars are good for the green agenda - apparently....

A small town near us recently had the main road into (and out of) it closed for five weeks. It was the only main road. The official detour was an extra 20 miles unless you knew the potholed single track roads around it.
