We went to a very small Co-op in a very small village a few miles from home today. The size of an old corner shop. We couldn’t work the self service till and there wasn’t a soul to ask for help. Only one other customer and she said that it was often unstaffed. She left before we could ask her for help so we left the shop without buying anything. Nuts.

Interesting. Is it a LeClerc? Do I have your permission to put it on my Facebook please? I have American friends who will be horrified at such attentiveness and kindness.

Yes and yes @Victoria. It is, apparently, an exception among Leclerc SMs here but I still prefer other branches to other brands if I'm shopping elsewhere.

IME, laying down in the dark for 10 minutes gets rid of it. When all else failed, I have been known to drape a dark cloth over my head, giving rise to one of my nicknames..

At a large GC a few miles away they play LOUD music, inside and outside. It's always Shania Twain. Absolutely dreadfull. I feel like pulling the head height speakers off the wall. I think it's staff abuse too. Always glad to get outside into the car park and go home.

Many years ago my dad was queueing in a Post Office and in front of him was this TV advertising funeral plans. So he marched over to it and reached behind to try and unplug it only to find the connector almost welded on.

                  Maybe you shouldn't go there.

Years ago, over in that far away strange land called the Isle of Sheppey, Near Sheerness, there was a yard that made concrete garden ornaments, some were very ornate and weird, but even back then they had loud music blaring out across the yard where all the artistic, (cr*p), items were on show.
I used just drop in from time to time for a laugh, but it was quite popular.

We always hope they will change the tape. But there are far more garden centres with good plants in. We have quite a good selection. But our mini GC at the top of the road is best and we can walk to it.

Oh @Jiffy - it's beyond vile. I don't understand some people. There's a bit of the footpath round the corner from me which I've reported a few times because it's obvious that people dump the bags there because there's no chance of being seen from the nearby properties due to the position and all the trees. Then there's the ones who just don't bother picking it up at all. Every day I see it, no matter where I walk.
My daughter moved to a flat recently, and I had to send an email to their council and the factors for the flats. I was mostly concerned with the people who would soon be cutting the grass, as there's a long verge as you exit the area, and when I walked down to my car, I noticed that it was covered in it. It's the kind of site where kids would run along there, because it's near a primary school, so you can imagine....
What is wrong with these morons?

There's a grass area at the end of our lane that the local neighbourhood forum have decided should be wild and agreed with the council to leave it unmown. As they have not followed through with plans to sow wild flowers or plants it's now a mess with a little blue heart in it.
I mow the edges and a few paths just to show someone actually gives a damn about it but it's a horrible state at the moment.
Plenty of dogs roam through it so you have to be careful where you step!
