I remember the calamine lotion! I must have been quite young as I don't really recall anything else about it :dunno:

You certainly don't want to get anything on your nevers. I believe there's a jab for that, though.

The rules around getting the shingles jab are crazy. It used to be for the over 70s but they have now changed it so that anybody who turned 65 this year can get it. Anybody 66 and above still has to wait until they are 70. Where's the sense in that? Is somebody age 65 at higher risk that the 66 to 69 age group?

My sister-in-law was hospitalised in Cyprus for 3 nights with a severe stomach bug. That got sorted but the doctors were concerned about her very high blood pressure and said she needed to make an urgent appointment with her GP when she got back home. She phoned at 8am yesterday, having got home in the small hours of Sunday, explained the situation and was told the first available appointment is Monday next week!

That's actually quite good, the wait for a proper appointment at my doctors is a month at least

Only a month! ;) You are obviously over endowed with GPs in Kent. :)

My wife has just come back from meeting up with a friend of hers who uses the same surgery as my sister-in-law. She is diabetic and was having problems controlling her levels. She phoned to make an appointment with their diabetes nurse and was told there were no appointments. She stressed it was urgent and she needed to see somebody, and just got the same answer again - there are no appointments. Not even advice on what other options were open to her!

They do this thing whereby they allow X amount of appointments each week, so once they are gone they are gone, until next week, they tell you to call back next Monday.

But the appointments you are given are usually for 4 weeks time.

Our GP is very good. Hubby had an ailment so he rang at 9.30am. Got an appointment via the receptionist for say 12 noon. The doctor rang him to say come in now! He went in had his appointment early, had a test done. All done by 11.30am, just 2 hours after phoning. Can't complain!

@KT53 she'll just have to go to A&E and hope they can refer her to a diabetes specialist.

Unclaimed pension credit could cost the government £1.7b if they claimed.

The saving on scrapping WFP is £1.4b Labour say.

                          Big mistake?
