Keep reading on the internet news about closing all your curtains at night to keep the warmth in, i'm yet to read about opening them in the morning to let in the sunshine to warm the place back up :ideaIPB:

If you're going to tell people what to do tell them every thing not just half a story  it can be dark in your house all day and puting on the lights isn't good for the planet :stirpot:

Went to library to return my "man changes mind about suicide on tracks at Crewe station" story. Wanted something light(er). First book I pick turns out to be about a psychopathic ophthalmic surgeon who enjoys removing women's eyelids. Who writes this stuff? :yikes:

You will doubtless be relieved to know ... I refrained from borrowing it!

Your local librarian has a strange taste in fiction.

For real horror you only have to look at real life.

Nothing really new there unfortunately. As the human population expands, there is ever more conflict between wildlife and people. Culling has been going on ( legally or otherwise ) for years. Food production will always take precedence and the drought situations only make it worse. Plenty of poaching too for "magic " medicines and illegal trading.
The tourist industry helped in conservation up to a point in several African countries but times have changed.
We aren't much better in the UK - badger culling, hare coursing, fox hunting and poisoning of raptors - all still goes on and we can hardly claim to be a famine ridden country - not yet anyway.

I can't see the problem with culling elephants as long as the meat is indeed used to feed the population. The only difference between that and us consuming cows, sheep and pigs is that they're bred for food and most don't live wild, free lives before they're slaughtered. There's a lot of useful meat on an elephant!

I was under the impression that some African countries are running out of Elephants due to poaching.
One day they might start culling humans.
                  Well Sir Kier might.:roflol:

May I suggest that he start with Ian Duncan Smith and work outwards through the Tories and Farage-types, continuing steadily with uppermost echelons of (e.g.) the DWP and Inland Revenue? Not that they'd be edible.......

Oh you would be surprised Philippa, there are many who claim to be starving as they waddle in and out of the food banks on a daily basis on their way to or from a visit to MacDonalds……I was never known as being the slightest bit PC:whistle:

I don't stay in the room when Mrs Shiney is watching Strictly. It wouldn't be so bad if the sound was turned off because I would be able to sit and read but I can't stand anything that is too loud or when crowds are yelling and people talking much too loudly.

                              Grump! Grump! :old:
