And there is considerable evidence that artificial sweeteners alter gut bacteria in unhelpful ways, which may be one of the causes of the explosion in severe obesity. Better to give a child sugar, IMV, and just keep the quantity reasonable.

Not just peasant farmers as there were some court cases in the U.S. about it.

I was brough up on sugar, when my mother made a cup of tea it won't be 2 level teaspoons it would be 2 heaped teaspoons and another half a teaspoon following the spoon through the air from sugar bowl to cup!!!

Butter was another problem, it would be a thin spread on bread it would be a think slab, so no wonder i don't eat butter now

My moan today was one which could have been a lot worse. I went to B&Q a couple of days ago, just to get a cheap bag of compost for filling pots for bulbs. I use the trolleys which have the child seat, as it's easier to put the bags on that, as you can shift them into the boot of the car more easily than the flat bed types.
I was just crossing the little one way road [that's the important bit] at the front of the store, when a car came in the main access road, and then turned into the bit I was crossing - the wrong way. You'd think the moron would have been looking, but no. Instead of stopping, or even going around me, as there was actually enough room for that, he just kept going and drove straight into me.
The bag of compost probably helped cushion it, but even so, it was really sore. He wound the window down, and I gave him a mouthful - several in fact. He drove on, parking in a disabled space, and I sort of assumed he was going to come and see if I was ok, as I was standing rubbing my stomach, but no - he then drove on, down another bit the wrong way, drove across to the trade car park, then went out. Charming.
There was a lady coming out the store with 2 bags of sand, propped the same way as I had mine, as she obviously found that easier too. I just thought - if that had been her he'd driven into, it would have been worse, because she was small and quite slight. Should have taken his number and reported him.
That's where those phones are handy - could have whipped it out and taken a pic if I had one.

                Maybe the store has footage?

Especially if he parked in a disabled spot.

Hope nothing is too shaken up. Even the compost. :)

Round here drivers mount the pavement and drive along behind you. I had a delivery van almost attach itself to the back of my legs.

I definitely think you should contact the store @fairygirl . He's not fit to be behind the wheel by the sounds of it. Next time it could be a child.

I would also report it to the police. I know they would be unable to do very much, but at least my conscience would be clear.
He could be driving around the area and causing havoc.

The problem is - I've no way of knowing who he was or where he went @AnniD. I couldn't even say exactly what type of car it was, although it was a silver/grey people carrier.
They've been building loads of houses in the last few years near this store, and when he went out, he turned left at the little roundabout, rather than back out towards/onto the main road or nearby shops, so I assume he was probably visiting a house in there, and came into the car park by mistake.

I had a similar experience like that recently too @cactus_girl . A guy drove on the pavement towards me, then turned across the road to reverse into his driveway. There was absolutely no need for it as the road was plenty wide enough. I don't think he even saw me. Maybe I need a large sign on me or a flashing light.
They certainly need calling out on it, but when you're a woman on your own, that's not easy.
Pedestrians are now the lowest of the low IME, well behind runners, cyclists and dogs in the grand scheme of things when on a pavement.

Get the police on it. They can look at store footage and hopefully get the registration number

I agree there is a distinction between the two, but both deliberate cross pollination and cross breeding are designed to alter the genetics of the plant or animal. In plants it's generally to improve the quality or quantity of the seed or fruit. Cattle and sheep have been cross bred for centuries to improve meat or milk yield.

@fairygirl I think the road markings in car parks are considered by many to be there purely for decoration. I'm also not sure they carry any weight in law, although that doesn't justify what that idiot driver did to you.
