Maybe ... but a lot of the "terror" is a manufactured guise to ensure taxpayer money gets continually funnelled into armaments. And collateral damage has never bothered those pressing the buttons. Govs kill their citizens while pretending to keep them safe.

No, @Fat Controller. But govs rely on people being afraid for control. Those running round with machetes and knives are criminals and fanatics. Label it "terror", and you drag the whole population into what is a localised threat.

And govs move the "terror" assignment around as it suits them. What Russia and Israel are doing is more "terror" than an angry man loose with a knife, but it suits the money-flow to call it war.

Sorting actual threat out from propaganda is a full-time task for citizens everywhere.

A terrorist is a certain kind of criminal imo, mostly they have a cause.

A lot of the youngsters running around with knives are not terrorists they are just normal criminals.

I envy you the stability you had. I attended 8 schools before my 9th birthday and lived on 8 different RAF stations in the UK and Germany. It made it very difficult to make any lasting friendships and I'm still quite a solitary and introverted character to this day.

Having worked on IT support for much of my working life I think the call handler did the right thing in saying it could take 24 hours. Far better to limit expectation than to give false expectation. If we were working on a problem we would always give a timescale considerably longer than we expected to take to resolve the issue. That stops people getting on your back and actually slowing the fix time down.
I had one situation where I was on-call overnight and we had 2 hours to get to the site. Called about 2am and said I would be on my way shortly. I hadn't been driving on the motorway for more than about 10 minutes when my phone rang. This was before bluetooth in the car and I never answered my phone when driving. I pulled into the services about 15 minutes later and called the number assuming that the problem had fixed itself and I was no long needed. Nope! It was the person who had called me demanding to know where I was. I did explain to them, as politely as I could manage, that I had to stop to answer the phone and had 2 hours to respond. When I got there I discovered it was a power failure for the entire building and the person who called me knew that!

When people don't do their jobs proberly and cause other problems because they think it's the right thing to do, this sort of thing is becoming common, it should be straight forward to renew a package that's not changing, but other people know what's best for you!!!! i hate being messed around

Just wondering which was cause and which effect. I had a fairly stable childhood 2 houses, 3 schools and the same town until I was 18; I didn't make any lasting friendships and am still solitary and introverted. In my case it was me being a solitary and introverted child that would rather read than interact with people that resulted in no lasting friendships from those years and many are not even remembered well.
My brother on the other hand, went to the same schools etc and is still good friends with some of his classmates from them and has added to lasting friends as he has continued through life. He is fairly well balanced and more social than I am.

Genes and environment. Variables in, variables out. :)

Siblings don't experience identical environments. Things like birth order, sex, age gap, etc, play a significant role, and that's before you factor in genetic differences (on average 50%, except for twins from one egg dividing), womb conditions (which alters between pregnancies), time of yr of birth (which can influence illnesses during pregnancy), and so on.

That said, a stable, settled home life with minimal school transfers is likely to benefit most children most of the time. Eight schools by the age of 9 is a huge amount of disruption, requiring loads on emotional bandwidth to be spent on constant adaptation.

I am aware of the nature vs nurture debate.
                            I didn't say identical, I indicated similarity.
What on earth is emotional bandwidth. I am aware of bandwidth in communication and electronics, but how do you even define emotional bandwidth or measure it, what units would you use (elephants per square fortnight)?

What I don't understand, about myself, is that I'm uncomfortable with smallish groups where I don't know people, but can happily stand in front of several hundred to do presentations!
