I was actually born "oop north" @Tidemark ........... not all that far from Buxton  Despite being away from there since the age of 17 ( with a brief return of 6 years ), I still find people know I'm a Northerner - short A's are always the giveaway !!
Yes, laziness certainly plays a part in bad language but like many other aspects of life, it's something you have to live with.

Decent swearing requires an extensive vocabulary and thought to avoid repetition.

In Shakespeare's time most Londoners sounded as if they had either a rural Norfolk or rural Somerset accent.

For apostrophe lovers. I took all these photos within one hour whilst walking around a town.

Without meaning any offense this is a well known poster about apostrophes

Not an apostrophe problem but you also have the problem of red squirrels driving dangerously downhill.

I've never now which is the right or wrong way to use apostrophe's  has i'm a thick git, i even had a clout around the ear hole for asking the teacher how to spell "it" when i was at school, it even put me off asking how to spell anything alse afterwards, i even had to ask google how to spell "clout" and the first things that were coming up were about blood clots, that's how hard it is even if you use moden tech to help you spell, i'm beginning to now hate moden life!! every thing is not simple it's bleeding HARD! now
Sorry if i put the apostrophe's in the wrong place  :pcthwack:

Don’t worry, @Jiffy, I know exactly where to place apostrophes but I couldn’t tell you how to use my OH’s Kindle and I’m still learning how to make the new washing machine work. Modern Technology gives me the squitters.

Predictive text is probably the worst thing to appear in many years. I touch type and, despite being confident that I've typed what I want to type, I still have to proof read everything to ensure predictive text doesn't think it knows better.

@KT53 so agree about predictive text. It's totally random. I was typing a message about my dinner yesterday and it changed Yorkies to Girlies!
