All fixed :phew:. It was frozen somewhere in the rising main and he also needed to release an airblock. All taps working and I can now have a shower

How come they managed to land things on the moon well before the manned landing in 1969?
Unyet they cant seem to get things right now, it even seems easier to land something on Mars than the moon these days.

It was a private venture, though. Doubt they had the same experience or resources as NASA

As far as I can make out pre 1969 most unmanned lunar missions were unsuccessful, some didn't make it out of earth orbit, some reached the moon and then failed and in one case a Russian attempt at orbiting the moon; reached the moon, but then kept going.
The success rate of successfully landing on other planets is also poor eg Beagle Mars mission and one joint ESA/Nasa mission where we used SI units and the USA used Imperial; it smacked into Mars somewhat faster than intended.
We've done far better when we didn't try to hit anything such as: Pioneer, Voyager, Hubble, James Webb, Parker Solar Probe, Cassini and New Horizons Pluto fly by mission extended to 2029.

                            Another undergarment management learning opportunity.

I was expecting a parcel and just when we returned from our morning walk, DPD van was about to pull out. I rushed forwards and waved to the driver to let him know we are here, and he stopped and said he had put the parcel by the back door behind the garden gate.

Great, apart from the fact that the said back door which has a small roof also hosted a laundry dryer with a magnificent display of my plentiful "utilitarian" underwear I had just dug out from the depths of the back cupboard and washed.

Nearly as bad as when we had an electricity inspection and the engineer unexpectedly wanted to check the other side of the leccy box which is in the utility room cupboard homing recycling, laundry basket and general riff raff.

It took me a while to take out about 10 empty wine bottles (long time since last recycling collection), just to reveal an overflowing laundry basket with my "gardening" bras (formerly of "nude" or "beige" colour- I think) spread proudly on top.

The procedure was so far past embarrassment that I went into uncontrollable giggles and the poor young engineer tried to reassure me that they do come across all kind of things when visiting homes :heehee:

Learnings: dry the scruffiest things indoors. Bin items that "might still be worn for gardening or digging ditches/graves or similar activities". Buy attractive, alluring underwear that doesn't come in multipack, even if only for decorative purposes. :old:

The walk was nice and the delivered small cage just what I wanted so on average, a good day :)
