Someone would have to enforce that though....
The small row of shops about a mile away has a car park with large signs stating the same @ViewAhead. Doesn't stop the self entitled brigade doing what they like. Double yellows, disabled spaces, chevrons...all ignored on a regular basis.
This area is full of them.

I think car park spaces have to change they are the same size as they were when we all had Morris minors.

The other thing that slightly gets my goat is the amount of preferential parking with really large spaces, most places have a good amount of disabled and parent and child parking, everyone else gets a matchbox.
You don't have to have disabled badge to be unable get in an out of a four inch wide gap when you can't open the door any wider.
Car doors are also a lot thicker these days which makes the problem even worse.

True ! I know this from experience.

I always try to park next to a grass verge or pavement/walkway so that nobody parks by my side. Or I park at the far end of the carpark where few people go because they're too lazy to walk a few steps. It's further from the shop but I keep telling myself the exercise will do me good

Yes, I generally park far-end. There's always space and the extra couple of hundred steps is good exercise - car to shop, round aisles, back to car, trolley returned to furtherest-away trolley bay, back to car. It all adds up.

I usually park at the far end of any car park too. Just habit I suppose, but it's nice if I can open my door wide enough to get in or out easily.

Many many moons ago when Possum was a wee bairn, we'd crossed the Channel back to Calais on our way home to Belgium. Possum, just over 2 yrs old, flatly refused to go to the loo before we disembarked. Needless to say, 10 minutes down the motorway and "I need to pee".

OH exceedingly cross but there's an "aire" a bit further along with loos so he pulled in there. Car park completely empty. No lorries, nothing. Does he drive in and stop next to the loos? No he drives round, selects a spot at the edge of the car park and reverses into it so fast because he's cross that he prangs the back door of our Omega estate so hard on a concrete post it can't be opened when we get home 2 and a half hours later.

We had to empty the entire car - suitcases, pushchair, shopping, plants - thru the rear passenger doors. Clever. And expensive. And not an isolated case.

I might have mentioned once or twice in another place that OH does not have parking genes.

Just seen Liz Truss on the TV, I'm convinced she is a robot, her face never has any expression.

Its either that or she is half of a ventriloquist act.
                  Guess which half.

I feel sorry for her. She found herself in a high pressure job that I don't think she was ready for, likely didn't anticipate the immediate prejudice she was going to face from the old boys club, and caved under the pressure. I actually think we saw a mental breakdown unfolding almost live in the media. I think we're seeing round two in the media now, as she tells the world about the conspiracy against her and how she could save the west. Instead of further ridiculing her she should be quietly escorted off to a mental ward for the help she needs. I don't think she's inherently looney, I just think the pressure got to her and now she needs help.

Please don't feel sorry for her, she was removed because she was/is dangerous, she is so right wing it is off the scale. If in any doubt, she supports Trump, and wants Farage in the Tory party.

I agree she needs help getting her head on straight and that she's dangerous.

2 moans of a different kind entirely: I have a head cold. Swear words!

Secondly, yesterday I tried to find an ice cream scoop to help me scoop out batter for cup cakes. 3 models available in the SM and all made in China. Finally found a potato masher made in France but what is the west going to do when China decides to slap huge duties on basic goods we can no longer make? They will, at some point, in some way, exert their manufacturing stranglehold and not in our favour.

I'm not really referring to her politics, its her manner, she just doesn't look real.
Her mannerisms appear strange to me along with the non changing facial expression.

She seems slow in her thinking, just a very odd person.

Re Truss, the interesting thing is why is the BBC giving her this airtime? Promoting the politics of the few ... as per. Just as it spends countless hrs glorying in the wars that benefit the powerful and the arms dealers.

Oh for some rational, balanced coverage of how to improve things for the majority, not pander to the tiny percentage at the top.

I think you are being selective in your remembering. What about yesterdays story about the desperate shortfall in funding for hospices, and the fact they only get 10% of their funding from the Government? Surely an issue that could affect us all?

Well, indeed. But just reporting shortfalls in funding is not reporting why there are shortfalls in funding. If there were no tax loopholes, specifically incorporated in a deliberately complicated system, there would be more money for services. If the tax system was entirely transparent, with an average 10 yr old able to do the basic maths required, there would be fewer people employed wholly for the purpose of helping the wealthy pay as little as possible. That's the story. Shortfalls we know about. Solutions palatable to the majority, that's news.

                            :)

In my very humble but considered opinion!
