Or, by defecting he increases his chances of being re-elected on his £70k plus salary.
He was or still is a Doctor and of all the elected politicians he works the most hours in a second job, 28 hours a week. Working that many hours as a Doctor, there is a strong argument he should quit politics altogether and focus on just being a Doctor.

Probably aimed at cruse ships, they just dump thousands each day at various tourist hot spots.

Bit odd to defect then, given the election is no more than 9 months away... methinks he is playing games

Just making a point I guess, personally I dont think defecting should be allowed.

Surely a far simpler solution would be to just charge more for a cruise ship to dock.

The locals were complaining mainly because they were being stopped by these stewards and asked for proof of residence. It's also the gulf in how much you can be fined, how can they justify that you could be fined as much as €300.

The days of a two week beach holiday being the norm are long gone, short city breaks are the norm now. They were saying over twenty years ago, the surge in short city breaks, especially with flights being so cheap would have a negative impact on cities and the climate. I am looking to go back out to Thailand, either August or September outbound flight, to think I can a flight to literally most European countries for less than what the APD is added to the flight to Thailand, then you can understand why short foreign trips are on the increase. To think I can get a return flight from Stanstead to Venice in September for £60, that is less than the APD for the flight to Thailand which is £92.

Google comes up with a hearing problem for APD?

I think Thailand is a bit further than Venice.

Air passenger duty, which has 3 bands. A for flights that are up to 2,000 miles between airports, the APD is £13. For flights that are between 2,001 and 5,500 miles the APD is £88 and anything over is £92. As short city breaks are the norm, plus most European cities will be under 2,000 miles, they will fall in to band A, then your clocking up more airmiles but paying less APD if your a frequent flyer, there is no APD for domestic flights

Before covid, all European flagship airlines had a check in luggage allowance, probably between 20-25kg included in the airfare, not anymore. So the fares for flagship carriers are so much cheaper now as long as your happy with the 7kg limit baggage allowance, which is more than enough for a short city break.

I would use European airlines to fly to Thailand as I have done in the past, but having to pay for luggage, they now always cost more than the middle east airlines. But if your happy with a 7kg bag they work out cheaper, which would be okay for me if I was travelling alone. The problem is my Mrs, her suitcase is so heavy you would think she has packed the kitchen sink, she still puts more stuff in mine when I am not looking.

My point is, if governments charge nothing to very low APD for domestic and short European flights, then you can understand why the growth in domestic and short haul flights is far greater than long haul, hence why the short city breaks are the norm and getting more popular.

Amazon drivers do it as they are penalised for toilet breaks. They are also penalised for arriving back at the warehouse with bags of "it", so they discard it on route. Their choices are severely limited ... and all so Bezos can be a billionaire and mess around polluting space.

And Bezos with his bent di ck logo should understand human anatomy and functions to know better.
That's abuse and isn't it against the labour's laws over there?

I used to work on an industrial estate and we would often find human poo around the back of the building, the lorry drivers used to park up overnight and obviously there were no facilities.

Our network of stopping places is pretty grim to be honest and although finding the stuff is pretty gross, I'm not sure what these people who are on the road all day are supposed to do.

Because of 'health and safety', sometimes drivers are not even allowed to get out of their cab when they arrive at a site for pickup or drop off.

I've heard tales from our drivers where I work, where they've done a couple of hours since the last service station, arrived at a site, asked to use their toilet, and been told no.
