I agree with all @gks has said. You don't actually need any electronic equipment if you have already check-in online and printed your boarding pass.

The only problem may be for your return check-in if you don't have access to a computer. This shouldn't be a problem in most cases as you are likely to be staying at a hotel, or similar, where they have a computer you can use to check-in and print the boarding card. It only takes a few minutes to do it.

The other week we managed our flights to Indonesia and Australia, a cruise and flights home without any personal electronic equipment. Even our taxi home from Heathrow was done the old fashioned way with the driver holding up our name at the arrivals hall - except our name wasn't on a piece of card (as in the old days) but in large letters on his mobile. :heehee:

I'm pleased you put the word 'simple' before 'solutions' and not 'people'. :roflol:

How can you check in 48 hours in advance, I thought the words check in meant I'm here at the airport?
You could check in and still not turn up then.

Since they introduced e-tickets the check-in process has always been quicker with minimal queues, which all helps the plane taking off on time. If you have not arrived at the airport before the plane has taken off, then your still down as checked in but there will be nothing to say that you have gone through security as your passport and boarding pass will not have been scanned to go through departures, so it will take off without you. You could still go through everything, fall asleep somewhere in departures and miss your flight, however, the airport staff would know your still physically in the airport if you've gone through security.

So really checking in isn't really checking in, as such, anymore, its more a case of just confirming you still intend to use your ticket depending on how far in advance you bought it.

Despite having smartphones we always print off boarding cards and any other important information. There is always the chance that a phone can fail and they you would be in a real mess.
The other side of the coin is that we keep photographs of our passports on our phone as a safeguard if the physical passport got lost or damaged while away.

That can be the problem with budget airlines, I certainly would not book with a budget airline to fly abroad. Did your daughter book direct with Easy jet or through a 3rd party? If you book with a 3rd party and there is any issues then the contract is with you and the 3rd party but having said that, it's still poor customer service that there was no Easy Jet staff to advise her. If you book directly with the airline, then it's the responsibility of the airline to organise alternative flights, where as your more than likely will have to go through the agent if you have made a booking through a 3rd party.

I personally now book direct with the airline, the extra fee is worth it for peace of mind should any issues arise, which they do. Plus if there is any upgrades free of charge or for a fee, you will be offered them first than someone who has booked through an agent.

Biden has been so useless that I've lost most of my fear of Trump.

Biden definitely wasn't the best example as Leader of the Free World ( I think that's what they still call themselves ?? ) but Trump is smarter and I believe therefore more dangerous to the world at large. When you look at those supporting/cosying up to him you have to wonder what is in store.

I think they are just swapping a gibbering idiot for an idiot.
But then we have done similar its just that Starmer can do what he likes but it wont affect the rest of the world.

It was nice to see Sir Saddo Khan taking the credit for all the fireworks in London last night.

I'm referring to the bit where it said, The Mayor of London Presents................

I was offered online check in two weeks ago for the projected flight to Gatwick on 10th January.
