Having lived through rationing I still can't get out of the habit of making sure we don't waste any food but we only buy 'fresh' :th scifD36: meats and veg.

4 farmers around here have sold land for building, ok 2 of them are puting most money back into more farms to get around paying tax over the next 3 years, 1 farmer runs his farm just to get around paiding tax lots of new big vehicles for a very small farm with lots of workers when you compere to the farm next door ie 3 worker doing the same as 1 worker on a big farm, just saying :coffee::whistle:

It won't work as they don't stick together, as soon as price rise they be selling, some one here rents a lot of land, other farmers hate seing him turn up to an aution, 1 comment "here come's xxxxxx we may as well go home now" all becuse he come's in at a high prise which pee's off all the other farmers who then don't get a "look in", also the person that made that comment when rented out some of his land and he was hoping that xxxxxx will come to bid

Also lots of things are sold on contracts so they may be in breach of that contract

I was due to retire today, last night the IT department cancelled all my account permissions so I couldn't actually do anything today; so I finished 4 hours earlier than planned.

@CanadianLori , lamb always seems to be more expensive than other meat and like you I'm not sure why, probably because they cant rear it in intensive conditions like other animals.
We even get it from New Zealand at a competitive price.

I think its stopped since Brexit, but loads of our Lambs used to be sent on horrific journeys right down to southern and eastern Europe alive in trucks in summer, the farmers said because the price was better, more than likely kept our prices sky high.

The farm which has invested in large machinery may well be diversifying and will be hiring the machinery out to other farms. That's potentially far more lucrative for that farmer and far more cost effective for other farms. A farmer friend of mine got rid of a large dairy herd at least 20 years ago and went that route. His view was it was far more sociable working hours than milking dairy cattle, and he made more money from it. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't know the specific farm in question, so must defer to your greater knowledge of it, and the business plan of the farmer.

My moan for today is hospitals.... why do they have to make everything as obtuse and as difficult as possible?

I've just had to take Mrs C to Royal Surrey Hospital for an outpatients appointment - utter, utter hole of a place.

Firstly, the place is a maze - inside and out - and signage is confusing at best, misleading at worst. We followed sat-nav to get there as it is some distance from home and it led us to what I now believe to be the back of the hospital, by the Oncology department. As the M25 & A3 had been their usual sweet-selves, we were within 10 mins of the appointment when we arrived, so I dumped Mrs C as near the building as I could and off she went whilst I tried to find a parking space. I drove round the car park and as far as I could ascertain, it was all staff with a sprinkling for Oncology... so I headed back out to the roundabout on the main road thinking I had missed a sign and came back in again - followed the signage for "pay & display" car parking only to end up in the same car parks again. As I was right down the very back of the car park, there was a lady walking through, so I asked her and she informed me that I should be on the other side of the building and "don't worry love, everyone gets this one wrong"

So I moved to the front, past A&E dodging ambulances, an over-spilling bus stop and battling more really crap signage to get into the car park. Once parked, there was no signs to say where to pay and display, no signs to say how to pay and display.. nothing, so again I had to ask someone... machine was on an end where you have to book in and book out again and it wants your credit card when you book in, and again when you book out. Parking is circa £4 an hour, as if it is some sort of salubrious, premium place and frankly it is as near the pits of hell as you can get. Call me a cynic, but it is almost as though they want you to make a mistake or not spot something so they can hit you with the £40 fine.

Apparently, signage for Mrs C to find her way around the hospital itself was equally bad (even staff she asked hadn't a bloody clue) - couple that with the usual 'running late' and is it any wonder folks get the arse-ache by the time a doctor finally deems to see them?

Sat-nav on the way back out took us a mystery tour of Guildford (you can keep it!) and then we had the joys of the A3 on the way back. For all that was done, I cannot for the life of me understand why it had to be that hospital either - it is miles away from us.
