Two brown envelopes in the post this morning, first the good news, my pension is going up £9 a week in April, second the bad news, my car tax has risen by £45 this year.
Council tax will be the next rise.

Greedy broads? That's not a nice way to talk about the female farming community.

I had a letter a few days ago about my Civil Service pension. Some court ruling meant that I had been underpaid ever since I retired nearly 9 years ago. I had thoughts of a World Cruise, or First Class flights and accommodation in New Zealand. Then I read the detail. I have been underpaid by £4 per year - yes YEAR! plus £30 in backpay.
What struck me as odd though was that I have the option to remain on my current lower pension, which also has no lump sum payment. Why would anybody want to do that?

Could be worse, at least they didn't find that they'd overpaid you and want a refund!

Having that huge bonus might invalidate a claim for the winter fuel allowance .

When are they going to start implanting airpods, what ever they are.
They seem to be the most lost property on Facebook, hardly a day goes by with out some moron posting, I left my airpods on the bus/train/ toilet, whatever.

Lucky you @pete IME, brown envelopes rarely contain good news.

On a different issue, I'm wondering how the water companies will cope if the govt continue with their AI plans ? If you believe the stats. re the amount of water needed to run them, the next thing on their agenda will be the creation of more reservoirs.
Which of the present water companies could be trusted with both construction and supply let alone where they plan to put them alongside all the house building ???

House building, solar farms, wind farms, nuclear reactors, and reservoirs, yes I think farming is pretty much not in the government plan for the future, import is probably the plan, lets just export all our nasty smelly methane causing cows out of the country or we could all eat laboratory created meat, apparently ground up insects are a good source of protein.

Also they say we dont have enough electric at the right price to be a world leader in AI.

Mr. Millipead was on the TV this morning again quoting cheap energy in the future, but how many wind farms do we need before they start selling it actually cheaper, nobody seems to tie them down.

There was a rather amusing ( but stupid ) report on the news about laboratory created meat - showed several hungry dogs gobbling it up and stated that they loved it. What they forgot to do was to ask the dogs whether or not they preferred it to their usual diet
I don't think this country is a world leader in anything at present ( other than hype tho vying with the US on that score ).

Yet they're closing Crummock Water, Overwater and Chapelhouse reservoirs and going to remove the dams holding back the water. This will drop the water level 4.4ft in Crummock which is a considerable amount. They're old but could have waited for new reservoirs to be built.
