@shiney It needs to be enshrined in law to make it enforceable and cut out the sharp and bullyong practices of the not so honest and exploitative.

A company I used to work for from the 70s to 2006 did lots of government work.
They always spent years trying to get the money from the government, they even had staff whose sole job was trying to get money out of them, and it got worse as the years progressed.
I cant think why any company in their right mind would work for the UK government.

That's all very well as long as you have a village post office. Even our Crown Post Office is earmarked for closure. Add to that the potential closure of WH Smith branches which have the post office in them and any form of post office is going to be rare as hen's teeth before long.

Hopefully ours will continue as it helps the village shop to survive. :fingers crossed:

If not, then I'll have to find another way. Maybe start hoarding it under the floorboards. Oh! I forgot!!! We don't have floorboards.

According to this book I’m reading, all dollar denomination notes have a high % of cocaine traces … except the $100 bills. The reckoning is the dealers pay each other in these, which largely keeps them out of general circulation.

Heard the same thing a decade or more ago about UK banknotes. That was when they were paper, not sure if cocaine sticks as well to the modern plastic ones.
The waste water of large cities and towns in the UK contains drug metabolites and actual drug compounds. Expect that this is the case worldwide.

I've done some work for the Gov and i didn't last long, why, well i was doing show work and i was told i had to sleep in the trailar (as a lorry driver you normaly have a sleeper in the lorry but this one didn't) no bed just the floor or a small sofer and i would be out all week around the country and when up north i was too be out for 2 - 3 weeks with out going home, i asked why not sleeper with no reply, i moaned to my boss which he said i could have a B&B for a £10 a night max, the only places i could find were the ones they paid you to hold up the wall paper  i found out that the lady doing the shows was in a 5 star holtel, she even said that i had to have a tiltle but i refused. i'm a lorry driver that's it and you can call me by my name!!!, and the last straw was when i heard the words "your only paid from here down" so i did that i only did some of the things  and then left and i said i would never do any work like that ever again:coffee:

We've recently had a Banking Hub opened here, seems to be the way to go when bank branches are closing right, left and centre. We have a Post Office too, for the time being anyway!

I'm yet to see one of these banking hubs but they seem the obvious and sensible option to me.

Why is it, all of a sudden, it seems the norm to be increasing council tax to ridiculous levels. One or three councils I get but now it's everywhere

Our Post Office is inside a One Stop shop, which I think is owned by Tesco? I use it as a bank and if I receive the occasional cheque I pay it in there. It takes an extra day to process, but saves me travelling 3 miles, parking etc.

I use a banking app, it seems pretty good, although it does mean you need to not lose your phone.
My local bank is now owned by some strange religious bunch who have turned it into some kind of church.

I deliberately stick to a simple phone, and I don’t use any Apps on my iPad, prefer to go to the websites instead. Our bank still has a branch in Exeter, but I rarely go there.
We have a Bank Hub in Sidmouth, although I haven’t used it. They have a representative of a different bank there each day, five in all, although not the one we bank with! I think there might be a cash point in there too, but I haven’t been inside to look. Usually a small number of people sitting waiting in there when I’ve passed, so looks as if it is getting some use.
Apart from depositing the very rare cheque, I haven’t needed to go into a bank for years. I do all my banking on the home computer, definitely not a mobile phone or via an App, so as long as I can access cash via a machine (with no charge) I’m happy enough.

If I ever have to pay a cheque in I fill in a credit slip from my paying in book and post it. I haven't been into my local branch (I think it's still there) for years.
If I don't have a paying in slip I would just write a note - 'Please credit this cheque to account number etc. '
